Nuclear reactors have been shut down in France and Switzerland because the water from cooling was too hot to put into the rivers. As the European heat wave continues, we see the vulnerabilities of nuclear to climate change. Where wind and solar can continue to produce power, to protect the life in the rivers, the nuclear plants have to shut down;

France and Switzerland shut down nuclear power plants due to heatwave
To cool down, nuclear power plants pump water from local rivers or the sea, which they then release back into water bodies at a higher temperature. However, this process can threaten local biodiversity if water is released which is too hot.
