There’s no single best streaming service, it largely depends on personal preferences. If you’re using multiple services, a streaming consolidator can simplify your experience. Platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, YouTube TV, and DirecTV Stream offer various combinations of live TV and access to third-party streaming services.

Things to consider when using a consolidator:
  • Convenience: One login and one monthly bill.
  • Unified search: Easier to find content across all your subscriptions.
  • Content limitations: Some consolidators may not offer the full library of certain services.
  • Ad-free options: Double-check which services are truly ad-free.
  • Pricing: Don’t assume consolidation always saves money—it varies.

I have Amazon Prime with the following subscriptions offered under Prime:
Paramount+ Premium
PBS Masterpiece
Acorn TV
Britbox.
There are also other streaming services included in price such as Showtime, MTV, etc. which we rarely watch.
Prorated by month the cost is about $50/mo which includes free shipping on Amazon and the no- ad options

I have the best streaming package of them all: Tubi + Pluto and maybe 2-3 others I rarely use. They all come for free on my Roku TV. No matter how hard I try, when I run out of the great programming on the 70 or so free stations I get over the air and switch to Tubi, it is always something new and good there.

All for free. Paying for TV is for suckers.

how much advertising is there?

It's called cable. Get internet package, full movies, all MLB.

But toobfreak is rght. In a good area (flat is best) you can get a lot over the air.

Moot point really. I time shift on TV which has the normal 5-6 minute commercial breaks so I just skip over all of the commercials. But on steaming like Tubi, I've found the commercials are a lot better. Not only a better class of advertising but far less, usually breaks only run between 30 seconds and a minute.

They even give you a countdown on both the number of ads and how many are left.

I live on a big hill, but even if you don't, you can still put your antenna at the nearest high point (could be hundreds of feet away) then run a cable back to the house. You might even run a 10 dB video amp to boost the signal.

IPTV is the best option that I've seen out there.

I get every premium channel, like HBO AND SHO, every local channel nationwide, PPV events and first run movies for $10 per month.

Sound impossible? Thanks. I will look it up. Discovery? History? TLC? Home CH? Cooking?

Netflix alone is $10/mo I think?

Internet alone is $39-$59 per month? Add on cable, fees, box rental ugh! A zillion commercials on regular TV is tiring.

I can only skip commercials if loaded from on demand after live airing. That also is a lot of work. I go to a movie for 5 min. Or mute and leave the TV.

I guess time shift is toobfreak watches a show from the start? Then pauses and rewinds?

My only problem with streaming is the per device caps which is why we haven't cut the cord. We have 6 TV's. I want to be able to watch whatever wherever for the same price.

Different services have different policies. I think Netflix counts sign ons regardless of location With Prime, you are theatrically limited to 4 devices signed on. However if all sign ons are in the same area they don't seem to enforce it. That has been my experience. Of course that can always change.

Here is a link that outlines how it works.
One caveat is that the faster your internet speed is, the better it works.

I have fiber optic internet which gets nearly 1000 mgps, so there is no buffering, and it costs about $60 per month.

In the long run it's obviously still way less expensive than the average cable subscription and offers a lot more content.

I have Prime and my brother who lives two houses down the street can use it.

Most "Free" TV sucks. And sucks bad.
Commercials. Nothing worse then getting immersed into a movie and in comes commercials.
Obtrusive, stupid and annoying.
Anyone not paying the TINY $4-$5 a month to not see commercials - THAT is the sucker.

And to answer the OP - no, I have no interest in consolidating. It never saves you money, it always cost more.
Why? - because you have to keep the channels all the time even when you don't want to.
The best way is how we do it. I subscribe only to a few channels at a time, watch everything we want. Then dump that channel and move to another one - repeat.

I was addressing consolidating streaming services. That's a lot different than consolidating streaming tv, cable, or satellite. Most streaming companies allow you to add subscription to your account. You are not locked in like cable. Typically, you can display your subscriptions and cancel at any time.

Streaming TV channels are offer by companies such as Direct TV Streaming, and YouTybe TV. These companies operate a lot like cable. You're are offered packages of channels that you must accept of reject. Most companies do not allow you to pick and chose channels.
