I saw a disturbing article based on a Gallup Poll.

I guess I am a provincial hick, but what place is better than here?

President Ronald Reagan's Address to the Nation July 4, 1986

"President Ronald Reagan's Address to the Nation on Independence Day, July 4, 1986. Delivered at 9:50 p.m. aboard the USS John F. Kennedy in New York Harbor as part of "Liberty Weekend," celebrating the centennial anniversary of France's gift of the Statue of Liberty (which had recently undergone a restoration process, completed and unveiled the previous day). This speech was given just before a 30-minute fireworks display, which, at the time, was the largest fireworks display in history. "

There is more than one side to this story and whites don't get to decide what others who have not had the experience they have had during the generations can say.

What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July? (1852)

Fellow-citizens, pardon me, allow me to ask, why am I called upon to speak here to-day? What have I, or those I represent, to do with your national independence? Are the great principles of political freedom and of natural justice, embodied in that Declaration of Independence, extended to us? and am I, therefore, called upon to bring our humble offering to the national altar, and to confess the benefits and express devout gratitude for the blessings resulting from your independence to us?

Would to God, both for your sakes and ours, that an affirmative answer could be truthfully returned to these questions! Then would my task be light, and my burden easy and delightful. For who is there so cold, that a nation’s sympathy could not warm him? Who so obdurate and dead to the claims of gratitude, that would not thankfully acknowledge such priceless benefits? Who so stolid and selfish, that would not give his voice to swell the hallelujahs of a nation’s jubilee, when the chains of servitude had been torn from his limbs? I am not that man . . . .

Fellow-citizens; above your national, tumultuous joy, I hear the mournful wail of millions! whose chains, heavy and grievous yesterday, are, to-day, rendered more intolerable by the jubilee shouts that reach them. If I do forget, if I do not faithfully remember those bleeding children of sorrow this day, “may my right hand forget her cunning, and may my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth!” To forget them, to pass lightly over their wrongs, and to chime in with the popular theme, would be treason most scandalous and shocking, and would make me a reproach before God and the world. My subject, then fellow-citizens, is American slavery. I shall see, this day, and its popular characteristics, from the slave’s point of view. Standing, there, identified with the American bondman, making his wrongs mine, I do not hesitate to declare, with all my soul, that the character and conduct of this nation never looked blacker to me than on this 4th of July! . . .

What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. . . . I will not enlarge further on your national inconsistencies. The existence of slavery in this country brands your republicanism a sham, your humanity a base pretense, and your Christianity a lie. It destroys your moral power abroad; it corrupts your politicians at home. It saps the foundation of religion; it makes your name a hissing, and a bye-word to a mocking earth. It is the antagonistic force in your government, the only thing that seriously disturbs and endangers your Union. It fetters your progress; it is the enemy of improvement, the deadly foe of education; it fosters pride; it breeds insolence; it promotes vice; it shelters crime; it is a curse to the earth that supports it; and yet, you cling to it, as if it were the sheet anchor of all your hopes.

If you love the country you respect the histories of everyone in it, no matter how unflattering it may be tl whites. For if you think that learning people like you were slaves, or that your people were systemacialy murdered, or that your people were excuded from coming here and beaten to death while building railroads, is flattering, you are really not thinking clearly.

We are so blessed to be born in such a great Country.

I wanna move to another country and start a new life with the little bit I have left.

I can't take what is going on in this country and if I move to another country and thier nationalist problems won't be mine. I have a half decent income from my retirement.

I have a cyber friend in Brazil and he wants me to come there and teach American English and particularly explain our slang. I had a cyber friend from moscow come and stay with me several times and tho he read and write English he can not speak it well because his is limited to the people he conversative(?) with.

IM2 You don't love our country... you rail against it here everyday... you hate white folks... you hate anything patriotic...
Blacks are the most patriotic people here. We have fought for a country that has dissed us consistently. We fight for the adherence to a constitution that didn't include us. Whites do not define what patriotism is, nor do they define love of country. When you say I hate whites, say it correctly. Say I hate whites who are racists.

Republican seem bent on destroying America, and today was another step on the way.

My country is stealing my home after decades of continued employment interference and abuses. We try to tax innovative foreign companies since we hardly innovate ourselves. America has much to be proud of, but will you be able to heed off becoming more like us? Trump is certainty not a kool-aid drinker as most U.S presidents are but he is but one man. Will the next president maintain American exeptionalism or will he try and become like Canada and the EU? You can bet he won't be as patriotic as Trunp is as global influencers try and make America different.

Democrats aren't going anywhere. They're just sulking.

Maybe Dems will get together tomorrow to burn flags; set some cars on fire and do a little looting to cheer themselves up.

15th post
You should go to Moscow.

talksalot...I love America but it is vanishing right before my eyes.

I did 6 years in the Army...3 active and 3 ready Reserves; which is different than the Reserves.

Drag Queen story time, worrying about global warming and we have mentally ill homeless VETs.

Fentanyl causing hundreds of deaths a year and people are worrying about Orange Man Bad.

Moscow is a international city w/ 12 MIL people in the area...something for everyone.

I don't care about thier politics or whatever...get off the cyber grid and read books.

Thank you and God / nature bless.

Your country stole the homes of what are called the original nations. But unlike America, your government is working on rectifying the wrongs done. Trump is a no-good con man who is ruining our country. Trump has nothing to do with patriotism, but to white supremacists, he is the be-all and end-all saviour of the white race.

Did anybody ask you any of that?
