To all of you who have tried. Everyone has a different take on their father, but I think overall they are a positive force. My mother really loved me, took me to the old museums and the planetarium in DC, and bought me books on dinosaurs to encourage me to read when I was in elementary school, but she wasn't a lot of fun. My dad fished and hunted and lived to drink. Until I finished high school I thought he was a glass blower. He had a Winchester mod 70 that was originally in 300 H&H but had it rechambered for Weatherby and he could shoot it. When I showed him my T rex book and said it weighed 5 tons, he looked at it and said " I bet that weatherby would knock his dick in the dirt." That was when I knew then I was going down the hoot owl trail.

As a father I'm not always 'happy' but I'm pretty content. I wish my kids were doing better in their lives. That would make me happy.

Happy Fathers' Day, can we still say that?

Seriously, I'll have no more of this racist, sexist talk! How dare we discriminate by gender! We let women into sports, we gave them the vote, so what goes with excluding gals from Father's Day?!

I'm calling my congress-person now, I want this madness changed to Happy Parent's Day. :safetocomeoutff:

All but obsolete in the ‘black community’.
It is an all too common story among the every sector of society, not just the black community.

Our black hacks may well resent the greeting
