It does not mean the ones that committed the assault are not guilty of a heinous assault. It only means people who do not take into account legal restrictions of where they choose to party, may place themselves in jeopardy. It does not mean they deserved it, as the laws against assault still apply. It does not change the fact the pain, medical treatments, blood loss, damage, etc. It does not change the fact, if you need a cop, they are at least 5 minutes away or more. It is a reminder, in this day and time, it is good to be a licensed concealed carrier and you can better protect yourself before the cop arrive, if it is legal for you to have the means to do so, if you are in places where it is legal to do so. It is not legal to do so in Michigan and many other states in bars, where it is legal in most other places, so perhaps you should throw your public party somewhere safer than a bar. If armed, would you let somebody attack and beat you to a pulp, just because the cops could not be there in time to protect you? I don't choose to live like that. I make wiser choices of my own safety and security. It is your privilege though, and I hope it always works out for you, if that is what you choose. After all, the cops will come and if your attacker can be identified, they may be arrested and successfully prosecuted, and totally make up for the ass whipping you take, if that is your mindset.
