Halal meet certification at restaurants?

On my visit to Canada I was watching some Canadian stations and I came across this Halal meet certification in Canada? The TV show had hidden cameras going into local restaurants and they were making a huge deal if the meat was not up to Halal standards, like this was a major restaurant violation. Even if the local KFC claimed it had meat that met Halal standards, but if the investigators with the hidden camera felt in their own opinion the meat did not meet Halal standards then it was like some catastrophic offense was committed by KFC!

My experience living in the US is very different, I don't see at all local KFCs advertising their meat is Hala or meats being inspected to meet Halal standards. What I saw on Canadian TV I just don't see in the part of the US where I live, but I don't have many Muslims living in the part of the US where I am from

I think you are referring to Halal Meat Standards. My understanding is that they are Islamic standards for production and handling of meats similar to Kosher standards.

Your guess is as good as mine. I look for USDA. If the products also meet other standards, so much the better, but they aren't part of my decision making.

LOL, I've never seen it mentioned before today. I admit that I've never looked for it or Kosher as I am satisfied with the USDA.

Maybe just the part of Canada I was in ? I noticed a lot Muslims in the lower Ontario area close to Michigan and Toronto maybe that restaurants serve Halal meat is more a thing in that area of Canada.
