No real details how it all came about but I'd not give the details either. There are still places where a private sale is perfectly legal.

Sigh, the ATF will probably charge him with running an unlicensed gun business the first time he sells one.

Were it me I'd run them all through a shop (or shops) that do consignments at 10%. Fuck the ATF.
