Yes, this ill-advised war will set Russia back decades. The country will become an outcast and Putin will become a pariah. Identifying as Russia will, in itself, cause many to turn away.

The number of Kremlin insiders who are opposing the economic damage that the war is causing will increase. Due to Putin's shut down of independent media, facts and truth will come out slow for the Russian people to understand. But he cannot keep the truth out forever. He is killing women and children in Ukraine. The body bags of Russian soldiers are piling up. Russian mothers will soon have enough.
