Jessica Hickey’s father has been asking for grandchildren since her wedding night — and his response to learning she was pregnant is nothing short of delightful.

Hickey, an only child, made the big reveal while filming her dad opening a gift box with a pacifier and note inside. She posted the video of his reaction to Reddit saying:

“Told my dad he is going to be a grandpa I am his only child and my mother passed away 20 years ago. He has been asking us for grandchildren since our wedding night. I think he is happy. ”

ABC News spoke to Jessica briefly who said her dad, in his 50s, has no idea of his new-found Internet fame.

There's nothing like receiving the news that you're going to be a grandparent, unless it's holding the baby at the hospital, the day it's born.

Like marriage, and having children of your own, becoming a grandparent is a game-changer - one of the few true perqs of putting on some additional years.

God - or Nature - grants us Grandma and Grandpa status, to take a considerable portion of the sting out of the aging process.

I have three. My Son and Daughter get mad at my Wife and me for "spoiling" the kids. Shoot, that's what Grandparents are FOR!!!

They come to our house, they ride horses, play with the dogs and cats and my Grandsons learn how to hunt. God, life is good!!

When our daughter, who lived 1,250 miles away wrote to us seven years ago that we would be grandparents, my wife and I packed up and moved.

We have two grand kids now, boy and girl. They are the greatest!

We are blessed to have grandchildren and greatly blessed to have great grandchildren. I have four grandchildren and, since my son is FINALLY getting married to a great girl, I am hoping for some more. This was touching...
