Story at-a-glance

Nourish Cooperative is a farm cooperative that provides fresh, whole foods, such as low-PUFA eggs, raw milk, and “needle-free” grass fed and/or corn- and soy-free meat

On November 3, 2023, 15 of their corn- and soy-free, low-PUFA hogs were seized due to a misunderstanding on processing

On May 28, 2024, the cooperative was raided, and over $90,000 worth of product was put under “cease and desist” by the state of Michigan

The raid took place over the course of about four to five hours, and started with four government employees arriving in a government marked car, including a human food inspector, an animal food inspector and two dairy inspectors

Nourish Cooperative is fighting back to protect traditional foods and the right to access these healing products from small farms.

Thank goodness they got that scary raw milk/products off the streets!

Raw milk/products can cause some health issues if not handled correctly.....Well no shit.....So can driving, smoking, drinking, ect.

I had rather use raw milk/products from a place that I have confidence in right here in the USA rather than stuff imported from Mexico, China, or some other shit-hole country where they still use their finger to wipe their ass.

I know freedom is scary to the weak-willed but it's better than the alternative.

No doubt this is what the government does if you don't pay the FDA first and risk instead actually letting the public see and taste real, fresh, natural, healthy food.

Why aren't they pasteurizing the milk? ... and why are you getting your milk from Mexico or China? ... all our dairy products come from local dairies ... all within 50 miles, except specialty items like imported cheeses ...

"Lies of Omission" ... the article only references the laws they're in compliance with, not the ones they're violating ... that's pretty one sided ... liberal organic farmers in Michigan do use they hands to wipe their butts ... and that has to be on the label ... "human feces added for better consistency" ... don't you know how ecologically damaging toilet paper is? ... what kind of Greenie are you anyway? ...

An organic co-op with $90,000? ... ridiculous ... this is a for-profit business cheating customers ... selling pork full of trichinosis ...

I like to buy frozen meat, specifically bison and elk, that it 100% organic. Chicken I get locally raised.

Also look for organic fruits and veggies, go about 50/50 between organic and factory farms.

Dairy milk is out, almond milk is better.

I don't know the back story on this raid, though.

Howso?

Have you ever compared the nutrition profile of dairy milk vs. almond milk?

Look it up.

Educate yourself.

I'm just assuming the whole "almond milk" subject is just trolling ... only the Rich can afford to raise kids on almond milk ... and I don't know if Vitamin D is added or not ... I do know how almonds are grown, just devastating to the environment ... southern San Joaquin County makes Love Canal look "organic" ... ha ha ha ...

Vitamin D is added to dairy milk ... and there aren't all that many other sources for this vital nutrient ... and I will say that cow's milk is the perfect blend of nutrients of calves ... maybe not so much for humans ... but even whities need Vitamin D, why they're so damn white ...

The question here, and for the State of Michigan, is of SAFETY ... $90,000 worth of dairy produces untested for food poisoning ... I'm taking a wild guess here, but this is all about the labeling ... in Iowa, in the mid 1980's, one could sell produce all day long, but as soon as you put any kind of sticker on it, you had ten miles of Health Department regulations to follow ...

These folk's food ain't good enough to sell itself ... the farmer's markets' foods here are good enough ...

Sunlight.

Your skin can produce plenty of vitamin D when exposed to sunlight, especially this time of year.

It's white privilege.

Sunlight is used to make the carbohydrates that make up the milk ... in the grass the cows eat ... why do you think human skin is used to process milk in a commercial dairy? ...

Ha ha ... but you're right ... rickets generally developed during winter ... but only if there was enough food ... white privilege ...

The only way to defeat power hungry bureaucrats is in the voting booth.

Not for many people. I don't get enough sun for that. (Night shift.) My mother CANNOT get enough sun, she's UV sensitive due to Lyme disease.

Great dietary sources of vitamin D3 are whole milk, eggs, fish and liver. Some mushrooms will also produce a lot of D3 if they are exposed to UV light. The ones grown in those giant caves don't have D3.

D3 is a fat soluble vitamin, so 2% or skim milk won't work. And almond milk is ultra-processed garbage. Avoid it at all costs.
