President Donald Trump’s disruptive trade policies are threatening to alienate a significant tranche of his own voters, a major red flag for Republicans going into 2026.

A new POLITICO-Public First poll conducted last month found between a quarter and nearly half of people who voted for Trump in 2024 have doubts about various elements of his tariff policies, especially around his approach to China.

Of course they support the tariffs, he was elected on them, not shy at all about his intentions.

Tariffs and deporting illegals were the two main reasons he was elected. Dealing with China slipped from #1 in 2016 to probably #3 in 2024.

He wasn’t elected to enact tariffs. I doubt many of his supporters actually thought he was going to do it.

He was elected to lower prices, which hasn’t happened.

One of you artists, make a meme of Trump shooting a machine gun with tariffs coming out of it.

Politico? Yeah...OK... LOL

Poor people, like a lot of MAGA, buy the most canned goods. Trump fucked them with his metal tariff. Del Monte filed bankruptcy. I was just in Publix, and cans of their products were like $2.28, which people won't pay for a can of peas.

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking on the part of the OP.

Gallup is conservative. You people love to tout every positive poll on 47, and dismiss what you do not like. Newsflash, he ain't doing that well right now.

Fresh frozen is much better for you than canned, Qdog. This is just another example of Trumpy knowing what's best. MAHA.

Newsflash, O311...the "polls" have underestimated support for Donald Trump consistently! He's doing exactly what he campaigned on which is why people voted for him in the first place. Democrats have lost their way. People don't like your Party leaders. They don't have solutions any more...they have performance art.

Actually, we just grow our own peas.

His tariffs will serve to increase costs to the American Consumer.

You on the left fervently believe that and yet they haven't. Costs have gone down while at the same time the tariffs have generated almost a trillion dollars. You've also got trillions of dollars in investments coming into the US.

So what is your next "boogie man" going to be, 0311? That one is failing EPICALLY!

The US has seen a significant increase in tariff revenue, with billions of dollars collected from importers due to higher duties. While the exact amount fluctuates, reports indicate that customs duties and related taxes have generated billions of dollars for the U.S. Treasury. Specifically, one report from the Department of Homeland Security stated that over $100 billion had been collected due to trade policies, with the majority resulting from tariffs.

As soon as Trump mentioned tariffs, Walmart started raising its prices. Sweep their porch, not Trump's.
