$3.4T in red ink and 10 million kicked off health insurance, CBO says

And that's even with them cutting a trillion from medicare.

Most of the red ink is from the permanent extension of the billionaire's tax cuts.

Those people being kicked off of Medicare will raise costs for the rest of us, BTW. When they turn up at hospitals and have to be treated without insurance the rest of us will pay more to make up the difference.

It is just another GOP ****-up that the Democrats will need to fix in 2028.

Rural hospitals are going to close, especially in Trump country. When your daughter dies during childbirth because she couldn't get to an adequate hospital in time for an emergency procedure that Trump vote is going to weigh pretty damn heavy. Hopefully heavy enough that that person puts a pistol in his mouth and pulls the damn trigger.

So 340B per year.

We spend almost 7 trillion per year?

Where was your outrage when Biden requested almost 7 trillion for 2024 alone?

I wonder if Democrats would ever go on record agreeing to raise employment taxes, agreeing to raise minimum retirement/eligibility age, and agreeing to make SS/Medicare means-tested.

I do blame Republicans mostly for the state we're in, but the Dems are not all that serious about the debt, either.

We should ban omnibus bills in general. The whole point is to push through legislation and pork without being accountable.

Can you list the last time the CBO ever got a prediction correct?

They voted for Trump. **** them. Literally everything he does is to help his rich family.

Is there some reason the states can't fund these hospitals? Why does the federal government need to do it?

Correct. Neither party is serious about the debt and haven't been since the 90s.

In my mind, a country's decline can be observed when it sustains a series of crises it never really recovers from. That's what I've seen over the last 25 years.

After 9/11, what was our response? Two foreign wars that lasted two decades. Did we pay for those? No. In fact, we cut taxes during that time. Not once but twice.

We had the worst financial crisis since 1932. We bailed out banks, the auto industry, suppliers, and we extended unemployment. Did we raise taxes to offset the loss of revenue and the expenditures? Nah. Did we prosecute the bullshitters responsible for the obvious fraud that led to the crisis? Nah.

And then COVID. Rinse, repeat.

We should be talking about the national debt, the rise of BRICS to challenge the US standing in the world, our environmental crises, and probably many other things, but here we are talking about whether or not our current president and one of our previous president's had sex with teenagers. And probably both party partisans would defend both if it was revealed they did.

America is not a serious country in 2025.

Since when do you refute comedy?

I'm 100% behind that.
