Google Earth Help

Help! I use google earth for getting fire data for my sisters area as well as for recon into hurricanes. I haven't used it in about 6 months and suddenly when I try to load it it crashes my windows. I have xp service pack 3, have not updated google earth since last year or made any other changes that I know of. Have any suggestions?

thanks Dugdale. That is a little different than what I had found to try before that didn't work, so I will try it and see what happens.
