This is an apocalyptic, sci-fi comedy. It’s really hard to make a good comedy, and this movie succeeded in doing so. Really fun movie. Good acting and a lot of action. The Rotten Tomatoes scores are high. I would recommend this movie.

Between the trailer and the plot description*, I'm not seeing where the humor is.
Maybe if one has a sick, distorted mind, and little grasp on reality ... ?

From a review ....
...
The lack of scale is noticeable in the climatic moments of “Good Luck,” but Verbinski’s penchant for lush detail and movie-reference onslaught remains. Our central figure is a hobo prophet who looks straight out of Terry Gilliam’s “The Fisher King,” only more tech-enabled. He has a countdown on his watch, and the imminent attack on the diner means time is extremely short.

He’s done this before, he says, 117 times, to be precise. His speech is well-rehearsed, but Rockwell’s future man more resembles an actor who’s been doing the same play for too long. His “Groundhog Day”-like time loop has drained him of optimism. He’s left to desperately and cavalierly keep trying various combinations of recruits in the hope they survive, escape and do something that will prevent the AI apocalypse. It’s a remarkably well-suited role for Rockwell, whose stumbling charm lifts “Good Luck” nearly as much as Johnny Depp did in “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

“Good Luck” never quite matches the electricity of its diner-scene opening, but as a group forms, the movie ropes in other characters whose backstories make for fablelike flashbacks. They play like mini “Black Mirror” episodes.

Let me get this straight. You didn’t see the movie, but you disagree with my take?
Yeah, sort of ...
The trailer and the description(Wiki) haven't convinced me I'd want to see this movie, nor that it is "funny" in anyway.

Guess we have widely different ideas of what is funny, etc.

You’re an idiot

Then you have a sick sense of humor.
Especially for taking this so personally.
To be honest, you really can't have a legit opinion on a movie if you haven't seen it. Reviewers instil their own biases in their reviews.

Many times I have watched a movie, then read the review afterwards. Some were so wildly off base I questioned whether the reviewer actually had seen the movie.

Usually and in theory I'd agree.
In this case I read a few more descriptions and reviews than I linked to. The praise seemed to come mostly from left-wing nut-job, anti-society, radicals (misfits). (The sort who find humor in others misfortunes.)

I'll remain open to change, but will need a lot more persuasive reason(s) than I've seen so far.

For those who would like more info about this movie:

A man looking like a homeless person shows up in a diner claiming to be from the future. He needs to recruit members of the diner to help him save the world. He has attempted this dozens of times before, choosing different team members from the diner trying to find the right combination.

Is he a crackpot or the real deal?

Basically, this is a two hour long Black Mirror episode. If you like the Black Mirror series on Netflix, you'll probably enjoy this movie.

This is a fast-paced movie and if you don't bother analyzing it, you might enjoy it. But when it is over, you realize it was pretty stupid.

The critics I pay attention to, basic agreement that it is a missed attempt. None understand the critical praise. But, like myself, I pay absolutely zero attention to macro critics. They have lost all credibility in the last 10 years.
