On this Memorial Day, I recalled that MY RELATIVES had fought in SPANISH AMERICAN WAR (he cleaned his utensils by sticking them in the ground and pulling them out), WORLD WAR I (his hair turned white in the trenches of France), WORLD WAR II (his buddy was killed next to him on a ship in the Pacific). While in Japan, I met survivors of the atom bomb in Hiroshima. A seven-year old on August 6, 1945, said the school toppled on him, but he crawled out to safety. He became an American citizen years later. God bless America, land that I love! (Photo of sergeant speaking in my town)
