Homeland Security releases list of sanctuary jurisdictions in Virginia

The Department of Homeland Security published a list of cities and counties it claims are not compliant with federal immigration laws.

According to the DHS executive order, the cities, counties and states on the list are obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws.

The so-called sanctuary jurisdictions “are deliberately and shamefully obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws endangering American communities.”

The localities, according to DHS, “protect dangerous criminal aliens from facing consequences and put law enforcement in peril.”

According to the order, factors that were considered include:​

• compliance with federal law enforcement
• information restrictions
• legal protections for illegal aliens

Each jurisdiction will receive “formal notification of its non-compliance” with federal statutes.

DHS is also demanding that “these jurisdictions immediately review and revise their policies to align with federal immigration laws and renew their obligation to protect American citizens, not dangerous illegal aliens.”

WTF is DHS thinking?

Warren is a deep red county that as far as I know works hand and glove with ICE....Hell we even host a K9 training center for the feds.

The red county next to us is the same and they are also on the list. I can't say that I've ever even seen a Hispanic there unless they were passing through.

The funny thing is the deep red county that hires the most illegals in my AO (Shenandoah Co.) is not on the list.

I think some in Virginia are legit but I swear it's not been two weeks ago when a couple of illegals fleeing a crime in a NOtVA county (Prince William Co.) and were caught in a stop here were turned over to ICE out of our regional jail instead of to PW county custody.

Something odd is going on, I called the SD and it was the first that they had heard of it.

Update:

The Sheriff just put out a statement where they are contacting DHS to find out why our county is on the list given our long history of cooperation with the feds, and to have us removed from it....Evidently it's created quite a stink across the red counties in Virginia.

Likely some simple SNAFU.
