OK. There's an indictment. That doesn't mean, "another one caught". There will be a trial where the jury will hear ALL the facts about the shooting. Till then, innocent till proven guilty applies. Yes, even to white police officers who kill black young men.

Of course. It's just good that they are finally looking at some of these cases. Previously, the cop was just given a pass and a pat on the back and the situation was swept under the rug.

The problem is....if society begins deciding all cops who must kill someone on duty has to be arrested and put in front of a jury...our cops will stop working. They'll avoid confrontation at all costs. It's already happening.

A local prosecutor here quoted a campaign fundraiser luncheon with "These days it's easier to just let a jury find them not guilty than to put our name on the line and decide not to prosecute. The public won't come after you for losing a trial, they come after you for saying charges aren't justified."

AND THAT IS why bad days are ahead.

A. May not have had time. If the time to make a decision was very short...may just not have time to go to tazer. They use prongs that must "spread" to be effective. Need 5-10 feet to be effective.
B. Many PDs teach not to use tasers if you're alone because you need a backup officer in case taser fails and the bad guy is on you.




The ANSWER to this dilemma is DRASTICALLY changing how cops are taught to fight. They need intensive Krav Maga, boxing and jiujitsu training. Monthly training.

Cops need to be able to FIGHT. Not rely on weapons.

But.....there are reasons why that won't happen.

The public would protest it.

Public? I think the loudest protests would come from the cops. (You know, the ones that never met a donut they didn't eat and barely fit in a damn car?)

Why is it we see many police departments using pepper spray and beanbag shotgun projectiles to subdue enraged people, thus saving their lives even when they were armed with a knife. But other cops that shoot unarmed people that are sometimes on the ground or running away and unarmed.

Bad cops. Either too lazy, too scared, or outright sadistic. And the good cops cover for them over and over. THAT is the problem, the good cops not weeding out the cancer in their midst.

Yes....the fat ones would be run off. So would many of the females who can't cut it and the affirmative action hires who never should've been hired.

Cops would all become far more fit, and more capable of fighting. Some would call it "militarized". And yeah...that's right. Trained to WIN hand to hand fights. Just like the Marines.

Many cops are already like that. They're former military or former college athletes. They seek out training in martial arts and keep themselves in great shape. BUT THOSE GUYS....unlike the fat ones and donut jokes....you cop haters call Nazis or guys who got picked on in high school or whatever.

The only people who have anything to fear from any cops, good,bad or indifferent are those who have just broken the law or are in the process of breaking the law. According to his family he was bipolar and recently quit taking his meds. And actually he was medically discharged from the military because he was diagnosed as being bipolar
