Anyone who has used Apple CarPlay knows how infinitely better it is than pretty much all car makers onboard systems. On a recent road trip we discovered CarPlay by accident when we plugged Bonzis iPhone into a USB port.
And just like that - far superior navigation screen, access to all of the popular music apps - free,
And GM wants that to stop by removing access to CarPlay and replace it with a subscription service made by Google.

GM plans to phase out Apple CarPlay in EVs, with Google's help
General Motors plans to phase out widely-used Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies that allow drivers to bypass a vehicle's infotainment systems, shifting instead to built-in infotainment systems developed with Google for future electric vehicles.
