Well, even in California sanity breaks out on rare occasions.

The Ladies had better be careful; one day they might get true equality...a single U.S. national team combining all football players, regardless of gender. And good luck to the women trying out for the team.

I'm not a soccer fan at all, so my interest here is strictly academic.

Does women's soccer attract anywhere near the following of men's soccer? Anywhere near the commercial impact? How about the Lingerie League v. the NFL?

Just wondering why they are demanding equal pay.

The USWNT is far superior in quality of results and international ranking to the USMNT. The women have won 4 World Cups, and several Olympic Gold Medals compared to the men’s team that has never even competed in the final of a major international tournament (Copa America and the Gold Cup do not qualify).

In a truly even comparison (which is tough to come up with), the attendance for an international friendly here in the US would probably be about even. The difference is that the Men’s game ticket would be more expensive.

Honestly, I think the USSF has far larger issues than pay disparity to focus on at this point in time.

That was not my question. Which attracts the larger audience, and commercial time? A sports team is only worth the dollars it brings in.

Okay, let’s compare oranges and sports cars. The Men’s team brings in more money because Men’s Soccer is still the more commercially viable sport.

If you charged the same amount for Women’s team tickets, jerseys, etc... that would change dramatically overnight. Unfortunately we still have some Neanderthals in the USSF who don’t believe women’s soccer can be financially viable, so they refuse to give the women’s team that opportunity.

What the USSF fails to realize is that if the USWNT ever falls to the competitive level of the USMNT, both will like cease to exist, along with the USSF... just like US Soccer essentially went away from 1940-1990
