Gamer convention could leave Indiana over religious freedom bill

Won't happen. GenCon is locked into the COnvention Center until 2020. If they pull out, the lawsuit could easily bankrupt them.

The attendees plan on a mass gay marriage ceremony?

Maybe the gamers need to consider the political agenda of the freaking idiots who schedule the convention.

Being the gamer that I am, and living in Georgia, Dragon Con has been a staple here for gamers for a while. Oh, I neglected to mention we have one of those religious freedom bills. Gamers don't necessarily care about politics. They don't have to. I'm gonna just flat out say that while gays deserve to be treated equally, they don't have the right to influence every single thing under the sun. When is enough?

The people organizing the convention can hire as many gays as they wish, nobody would care!

Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which easily passed both legislative chambers, would prohibit state and local laws that “substantially burden” the ability of people, businesses and associations to follow their religious beliefs.

A similar law was passed by Congress in 1993. Similar proposals have been introduced in about a dozen states in the wake of businesses and individuals being taken to court for not wanting to provide insurance for abortion-inducing products or servicing same-sex wedding activities out of religious beliefs.

Mr. Pence said this week he believed the measure “is about respecting and reassuring Hoosiers that their religious freedoms are intact.”

If they decide on that course of action, that's their right.

But they will look as stupid as the folks who are lying thru their collective teeth about the purpose of this law.

Had those "heroes" of the LGBT community not sued a baker and a photographer over servicing gay weddings in direct conflict with their religious beliefs, these laws would not be necessary.

P.S. - We're probably going to pass it here too, so make your convention plans accordingly.
