Commonwealth Fusion Systems has secured $863 million to accelerate its work on fusion power, Bloomberg reported.

The Massachusetts-based company is building a demonstration system that is about 65% complete. Chief Executive Officer Bob Mumgaard said the project is on track to reach a critical milestone in 2027, opening the way for a commercial-scale plant in Virginia, according to Bloomberg.

"This brings us closer to making fusion a commercial endeavor," Mumgaard said. "This is happening at a time when we need a lot of energy".

Fusion power is touted as the "holy grail" of clean energy because it can reduce our reliance on planet-warming fossil fuels. It also produces less radioactive waste than other processes, such as nuclear fission.

This scientific breakthrough means fusion power could propel us into a cleaner, more efficient future. A fusion reaction can create as much as 100 million times more power than burning dirty energy.

Fusion reactions typically use hydrogen — the most abundant element on Earth — which can be extracted from ocean water and lithium, and this can meet human energy needs for millions of years. Conversely, carbon-based, dirty energy is finite, and its growing scarcity can threaten our economy and national security.

Supporters see it as a way to lower energy bills and insurance costs, while reducing pollution and delivering a clean power source for expanding cities and industries. It has been touted as a technology that could transform how the world generates electricity.

It really is the best solution to a whole lot of needs.

Personally, I think that the powers that be will now push this because of their lust for AI which needs a great deal of power than we have currently. Without that, I doubt they would care much.

Great but until we get there fission and fossil fuels are the answer
It would help to know exactly how close they are.

As for fission, the technology is far advanced as we no longer have to worry about "meltdowns" like we saw at 3-mile island and in Japan.

But most are ignorant about this fact.

This will not be allowed to be released into society until digital ID has been instituted, until the entire monetary system has been digitized, and until all transport is electronic and controlled by the state.

The establishment has had advanced energy technology for decades, but releasing it to the free market would mean more freedom and liberty, and less control of the ruling elites.

Now with AI and smart tech, it can be used to do the reverse. We are close to universal enslavement, and then this type of tech will be allowed.

Wow.

Not saying you are not correct. I can't even say I would be surprised if you were correct, but it is a hard thing to swallow.

I have long thought this is the most logical explanation why the folks that rule over us continue to build out data center infrastructure and crypto mining, (the two most intensive uses of energy in modern society,) while also pushing smart grid tech and EVs. And yet? These same folks fly on private jets and buy ocean front property.

Any thinking person realizes, they themselves do not believe in the AGW hoax, but then why all these policies?

It is the creation of a technocratic police state infrastructure, where the only thing that is lacking is sufficient energy to power the global lock-down.

I think wide scale fusion energy production is decades down the road, but it definitely is worth the research.

Mostly dimocrap scum who wet their panties at the first mention of Nuclear Power.

dimocrap scum are a curse unto humanity

It is decades yes...but once established it will replace everything.
Yes, but it will take time. And getting the dumbest motherfuckers on the Planet (dimocrap scum) to accept it will take even longer.

Well ....

You will see a functioning plant in the 500 mw range within 5 years ...

But we need 5,000,000 megawatts....at least
That will take 40 to 50 years.

Seems like they are looking to "downsize" the world population, and quickly.

I reckon that the abortion cult and gender cult and people dying of overdoses at a rate of around 200 a day is not doing enough to lower the population levels fast enough.

But with nuclear fusion these signs don't make any sense.

What would happen would be an economic boom, something globalist probably want to guard against as it would probably ignite a population boom along with it.

It sound great until one understands that they said this over 75 years ago and still they pour cash into an unproven project.

Scientists began exploring the possibility of nuclear fusion in the 1930s, with significant developments occurring in the 1950s when research focused on creating controlled fusion reactions for energy production. The theoretical foundation was laid earlier, with Arthur Eddington proposing that stars produce energy through fusion in the 1920s. lppfusion.com euro-fusion.org

But their lust for AI, that is the key

All of their hopes and dreams are riding on AI to gain even more worldly control for themselves as the require a huge energy source for it all.

That will be enough, I think, to light a fire under them to actually do something for a change.

I have personally hoped this would be done on Earth as done on the Sun and hoped they could do as the Sun and not light Earth on fire.

Yep and most of the world will bow down to this system for a short time. All financials, health, credit, social will be on some type of implant. The masses will love it.

When will it work? They started work on this in 1930 and still have not solved it.

If, or when fusion is possible, imagine that coupled with superconductivity at ambient temperatures.
"It's dizzying; the possibilities."
