They really SUCK (no pun intended! )

I used to work as a Landvermesser (land surveyor) and got bit all the time. I've been treated for Lyme like 5 times. About a month ago I got bit twice for the first time in about 1.5 years. Ive become somewhat desensitized to it but I still don't like it at ALL!

It just creeps me out how they get so swollen!

I've pretty much always caught them before they managed to get like that. Usually within a few hours of picking them up, wherever that was. Also, the tiny deer ticks don't get like that like dog ticks and other larger ticks do. You feel the intense itch and in a short time you realize something is there. Then it's tweezer time. Literally grab them by the proboscis where they are attached and gently wiggle until they come out. Rubbing alcohol also does them in. Then it's much easier to work them out.
