In regard to Afghanistan the time table was set by the former president and his wonderful peace accord with terrorists. That negotiation reduced troop levels, freed the Taliban leader and 5.000 of their fighters. There is no way Pakistan was going to allow them to remain in their country. Additionally, the agreement set a withdrawal date of May 1st. Their would still have been a mad rush to the base even if we had enough troops to protect it along with our embassy and airport.
So, get your head out of the conservatives noise machine talking points and think critically.
Just today the Taliban asked President Biden to keep open our embassy and to discuss trade. Their now worried about frozen assets and running a government which they failed at previously.

It's laughable that a President who had no qualms at all about reversing numerous Trump policies in the first few DAYS of his Presidency has the chutzpah to claim that he couldn't change the agreement with the Taliban that Trump had reached! Of course Biden could change that agreement! It had already been changed from May 1st to Sept. 1st. So why the huge hurry? We hadn't gotten Americans out. We hadn't gotten our allies out! We hadn't had a US casualty in Afghanistan in a year and a half! So why was it SO important to Joe Biden to have all our troops out by September 1? Was it because he wanted to pat himself on the back for "ending the war" before the 20th anniversary of 9/11? I'd love to hear from you what the reason for that hurried withdrawal was, Otto! Explain to us all why it wouldn't have made a lot more sense to wait another few months until winter in Afghanistan so that the Taliban wasn't in the field fighting? Explain why it made sense to close Bagram when we needed to get tens of thousands of Americans and Afghan allies out of the country BEFORE our military departed?

August jobs report was lower than expected. It’s a datapoint that followed several good jobs reports. The trend is strong. I don’t know what will happen with the variant but if people act reasonably safe we can minimize any negative effects.
