All too frequently police officers get a pass on criminal behaviour because we don't want to sent cops to jail. They're the "good guys". In domestic violence situations, police officers get cut a lot of breaks, both from fellow officers, and the judicial system in general.

So when a cop isn't a "good guy" at home, their partners tend not to be believed. I'm not at all surprised this has happened. The notion that she's in jail, and he's not is beyond disgusting, but sadly, not surprising.
