Well, this is just how Trump hopes companies will respond. I'm not sure it will be enough..as there are a lot of factors facing anyone thinking about buying a car right now.
But for the moment..Ford is a bargain..and soon to be the MAGA vehicle of choice. The 'Made in America, Sold in America' advertising meme may have legs.
A very smart move by Ford..IMO.

Ford Motor Co. wants U.S. customers to know it is the dominant American car company by pushing that message in a new ad campaign that promotes the automaker's U.S. footprint. The campaign is also going to offer car buyers discounts across much of the Ford and Lincoln lineup.

The automaker is launching "From America, For America" on Thursday, the day President Donald Trump's tariffs will be enacted on the auto industry. The campaign will run in traditional print media advertisements, television spots and social media, said Rob Kaffl, Ford's director of U.S. sales.

As part of the campaign, Ford will offer its employee-pricing plan, known as the A Plan, to consumers on most of Ford 2024 and 2025 model year vehicles through June 2. Ford is also extending to June 30 the program that offers a free home charger and complimentary installation to those people who purchase or lease an all-electric vehicle.

Ford wants to drum up business and get out ahead of any impact caused by the tariffs — which Trump said would be on imported cars and imported auto parts — by attracting car buyers to Ford first.

Ford can afford to offer the discount right now because it has plenty of inventory of new vehicles at dealerships, Kaffl said.

"We’ve got a very healthy stock," Kaffl told the Free Press, referring to new vehicle inventory. "We’re in a very competitive position in our stock. And the auto sector, and overall public, has seen a lot of uncertainty in the market right now especially in the automotive space. So we feel by providing this message in 'From America, For America,' we’re providing some security.”
The "From America, For America" campaign spot starts off showing a Ford dealership and then an announcer asks: "Which automaker employs the most hourly autoworkers in the country? Ford. Which automaker assembles the most vehicles in the country? Ford. That's not a coincidence. It's a commitment. And, now at this unprecedented moment in automotive history, who benefits from Ford's commitment to America for over 120 years? You."

Ford is now offering employee pricing on all its vehicles except the F-150 Raptors, 2025 Super Duty pickups, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator large SUVs, Kaffl said. It also excludes Ford's fleet vehicles.

I've been driving Fords exclusively for over thirty years. Good company, good product.

You've got to be kidding, right? 30 years ago Ford was decent. Now they're junk.

I doubt that "employee pricing" will remain the same when the cars go up $10k.
It will probably change when the 74 day supply of cars at the dealerships run out. If the price rises like that in other brands..I guess Ford is positioned to take up the slack.

But for now....probably a good..maybe even a great, deal.

I don't know of an auto company that hasn't had recalls. Meh? As for junk, I only have personal experience to attest. I drive a 15 year old F250 pickup with nearly 200K miles on it -- well cared for and still runs like new. The same can be said for my '18 Explorer, my daughter's '20 Explorer and son-in-laws '22 F150. Can't say the same for the luck of my friend who has turned back THREE new Chevy 3/4 ton diesels on the CA lemon law. He finally bought a Dodge and he is happy with the change.

.

Not the first time this has been done by Ford. Henry Ford made the brilliant decision to make his cars affordable so his employees could afford to buy them.

.
He made that decision because working conditions in his plants were so bad that he had well over 100% turnover.

While not unique to the industry at the time, Ford was considered the worst place to work in Detroit other than Fisher Body..

That is their plan. They said so.

Going from Chevy to Dodge is like going from eating dog crap to eating cat crap. It's still crap, it might taste a little different, but still crap.

Ford has LONG has had a TON of problems. NOBODY has had more recalls than Ford. This past year they equalled the HORRIFIC Stallantis with 51. Dodge is the worst vehicle on the road. ANYTHING Stallantis is junk. Jeep, Dodge, all that shit is crap.

The only decent truck still on the road is the Tundra.

In 2023, Ford had 58 recalls!! FAR MORE than anyone else.

Ford is 13th in reliability.

And everybody complains about the working conditions at their job.

Employee pricing by many auto companies became popular in more recent times in the 80s and 90s. Next.

Ford is 13th in reliability, behind ALL other major brands.

Toyota makes a decent truck, but I would put any F250 up against any Tundra you dig up.

All these anti union libs go figure

I decided after owning an old Hardbody Nissan that was given to me as a high school graduation gift, and keeping it and it basically giving us zero trouble for 30 years, I decided to buy a fucking Ford. I bought the top of the line Fiesta, with the 5 speed manual. 1 month after the warranty went out, half the fucking radio stopped working. ALL the crap I paid extra for went dead. It's now back to an AM/FM radio. Nothing else works.

I love how the car drives, but the electronic gremlins would prevent me from ever buying another Ford. In fact, Ford put a POS tranny in that car and the Focus, where they had to literally stop making the car so people would stop complaining about it. THEY KNEW the POS tranny was a POS, and yet STILL continued to put it in vehicles.

Ford is also the company that decided paying claims of dead people in the Pinto was better than actually fixing the car.

Yea, FUCK FORD.

Tundra is a half ton truck. Put it against any F-150 and it would eat it for lunch. Ford puts POS 4 bangers in their fucking full size trucks that go out at 50,000 miles. Toyota doesn't do stupid shit like that.

LOL Even a Ford mechanic says he'd take the Tundra over the F-150 any day.

Enough, I'm not going to get into a high school debate about "my cars better than yours." You like yours, and I like mine. I really don't care.

Your car sucks, you're just not willing to admit it. Nothing high school about saying your car sucks. I own a fucking Ford, I'll be the first one to tell you it sucks. It sucks BALLS compared to other brands I've owned like Nissan and Toyota. Fuck, my POS Ford car I had to use a BUNGEE CORD to hold the fucking door closed because they had a recall on the fucking door latch and mine broke while driving, causing my fucking DRIVER DOOR to fucking fly open in fucking traffic during a right turn. FORD FUCKING SUCKS. All these problems with that POS Ford and it is 13 years old with barely 36,000 miles on it.

Calling it "fake news" because you don't like it doesn't count, just FYI.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I can show you Toyotas and any other brand for that matter that have doors tied closed. I've seen Toyotas in south Chicago being driven with air bags deployed and cut out. SMH. Are you in high school? As for recalls, do you remember the air bag fiasco? Why are you so angry because you have like your car?

You can abuse a vehicle, but when the vehicle abuses you, IT'S JUNK. Are you really so childish to DENY that Ford has more recalls than any other brand, even when shown proof? Are you denying Ford is junk, even though they are 13th in reliability? Doors tied closed because they've been beat to shit and in accidents is far different than doors tied closed BECAUSE THE POS MANUFACTURER CAN'T MAKE A FUCKING DOOR LATCH THAT WORKS. Are you really this fucking stupid to compare the two?

Why deny what is in front of your face? I'm sorry you bought a Ford. Fuck I'M SORRY I bought a Ford. But I'm stuck with the POS now. Hopefully you'll learn your lesson and buy a different brand from now on. I was going to buy an Escape. FUCK THAT. I'll get a CR-V if I need a small SUV that badly. I'll pay extra for tariff pricing to get MUCH better reliability.
