On the Health Care Crisis facing the American people next year there was a glimmer of hope that the devastating insurance premium rise was going to be avoided because the White House seemed to be coming out with a compromise plan talked about amongst rank and file members of Congress during the shutdown which is capping the income limit for which people are eligible for the ACA enhanced premium tax credits to stop wealthy people from getting this government subsidy and having a minimum monthly premium amount to stop the fraud, abuse and waste in the ACA system and extend this enhanced premium tax credit for like two years. But right wing House Republicans gave a thumbs down on the plan in part because they want to begin the process of eliminating the ACA system by just giving money to individual Americans and let them buy their own insurance which is a failure policy because it is turning the clock back in time to before the ACA was enacted into law where people thought they had good insurance they were paying a significant premium every month but when they got seriously sick they find out their insurance policy doesn't cover the treatment they need to get well.
But also these right wing House Republicans have thrown up another road block they now don't want to vote for premium help for Americans where the premium help is used for insurance plans that cover abortion. Republicans in Congress need to stop this, they did this in the House version of the Big Beautiful Bill, using government funding to force implement of their anti-abortion policy they need to stop this linkage it is an abuse of power and it is a bad precedent because when pro-abortion people get into power they can do the same against pro-life communities. Abortion is the law of the land in many states if Republicans think this is bad law then they can fight to change in it the states but stop your sneaky manipulation and abuse of government. The Republica Party needs to stop gas lighting the American people on this issue and tell the truth in the ACA law that was passed in 2009 or 2010 there was the Stupak Amendment authored by the Democrat "Pro-life" House member Bart Stupak of Michigan which prohibited government funding from being used to pay for abortion so that ACA insurance plans that cover abortion must segregate premium funds so that government premium monies aren't used to pay for abortion. Health insurance is too important for the American people Republicans got to stop pushing their minority view on abortion in this important area.
KFF kaiser family Foundation which is a premier organization on information about America's Health System recently took a poll which found that seventy-four percent (74 %) percent of Americans want the ACA enhanced premium tax credits to be extended. Republicans have to stop financially killing the American people on this issue over twenty million Americans face a health insurance premium increase of over fifty percent if Washington doesn't pass a law here! Ideally, what House Speaker Mike Johnson needs to do is what Former House Speakers John Boehner, Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy regularly did they put country over party and when the job was the House needs to govern they used Democrat votes to get moderate bills through their chamber! If Speaker Johnson doesn't have the greatness of character to follow this route then moderate House Republicans have to go around him. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is planning a discharge petition effort to get an extension of the ACA enhanced tax credits for "three" years let us say that Leader Jeffries was able to persuade a handful of Republicans to go along with his conference and pass this bill through the House this important bill would absolutely not get through the Senate, Senate Republicans have made too many statements that the ACA enhanced tax credit system as it is today is fraught with waste, fraud and abuse if they reverse course now and agree to extend it for three years they will have blown their credibility and they aren't that foolish! The Discharge Petition route is something moderate Republicans should consider using; Moderate Republicans should negotiate with the White House, the House Democrat Leadership and Senator Thune and Senator Schumer to get bipartisan support in the Senate and work out a compromise bill and use the Discharge Petition process to get it through the House and into law. Republicans will be in for a really unpleasant surprise come this January, the American people are going to be rabid mad if Washington gridlock rules the day on this enhanced tax credit issue!
