We Americans are losing something special. When do a handful of people get to demand the firing of an editor at a newspaper over a cartoon? I published the Muhammad cartoon and saved it on a server during the cartoon controversy a few years back. Now this?

America has becom a nation of victims of everything under the sun.

Tony Doris said he never shied away from controversy during his lengthy career at The Palm Beach Post, a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper in the backyard of President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

Mr. Doris, 67, investigated local government, digging into city affairs in West Palm Beach, Fla., over two decades at the paper, most recently as editorial page editor. He didn’t expect his career there to end over a cartoon.

Gannett, the largest newspaper company in the United States and the owner of The Palm Beach Post, fired Mr. Doris last month after he decided to publish a cartoon about the war in Gaza, Mr. Doris said. The cartoon set off a backlash in Palm Beach, including a rebuke from a local Jewish group that claimed the cartoon was antisemitic, resulting in a quick response from Gannett’s senior editors.

...

Mr. Doris said in an interview last week that the cartoon was antiwar, not antisemitic, adding that he thought Gannett’s senior editors lacked the fortitude to stand up for their journalists.

I have no dog in this fight. I'm just observing from the cheap seats, and it seems to me that the cartoon is antisemitic. I have no problem with such being published.

A better antiwar cartoon would have depicted the carnage in Ukraine.

People in Israel (Jews) have critiqued the war. I guess from your perspective that makes those Israeli Jews, anti-Semites.

Seems nobody is buying...oooops.....
Nobody is selling.

An editor in the USA was fired for posting a political, anti-war cartoon.

Mr. Doris said in an interview last week that the cartoon was antiwar, not antisemitic, adding that he thought Gannett’s senior editors lacked the fortitude to stand up for their journalists.

The cartoon depicts many dead Palestinians contrasted with one living freed Israeli hostage. The soldier with a gun suggests the killing of 40 thousand Palestinians to avenge the capture of one Israeli citizen. Also, freed captives are 'escorted' by armed Hamas fighers, not Israeli soldiers and medics. Trodding on, showing the bottoms of one's feet, is an insult to Muslims as well.

That's your reading?

Wow!

After carefully considering all parts of it, yes.
The Editor who posted it says no.

Then he will be reinstated and receive an apology from the local Jewish community.

what bullshit -- on today's hostile environment where many Jews have added caveats to "Never Forget?"
