Federal Judge Blocks Trump's, Musk's Government Buyout Ultimatum.

"We are grateful to the judge for extending the deadline

Exactly.

The judge paused the expiration date (which was tonight)...now they have until monday to take Trump up on his most generous offer!

Feb. 6 (UPI) -- A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration's proposal to federal employees to take government buyouts until a hearing can be held on Monday.

U.S. District Judge George O'Toole Jr. ruled Thursday that the administration cannot carry out its "so-called directive" until after a briefing and oral arguments take place, according to ABC News and POLITICO.

"I enjoined the defendants from taking any action to implement the so-called directive pending the completion of briefing and oral argument on the issues," said O'Toole. "I believe that's as far as I want to go today."
O'Toole is a tool. ******* courts need to stop pushing their ******* noses into everything. It's time to replace judges with AI. Now that would be a very nice money saver.

As soon as some idiot signs the paper, they will discover that Mush and Felon47 have no intention of paying them.

He's losing in court left and right.

They're probably not gonna get it all at once.

They'll receive a paycheck every 2 weeks just like they do now...it'll continue for 8 months. That would be my guess.

It is just another scam.

It is just another scam.

What scam?

I was offered 6 months pay from a place...I took it...and I got my paycheck every 2 weeks for 6 months (without working)...

It was what we agreed to.

Poor people. Now they're just going to get laid off with no compensation.

As soon as they sign, Mush's people can say you don't qualify or your fired and you get nothing.

I saw a news short today in which several points were brought up by the attorney they were interviewing:
1. Whether the barely 8 days notice the workers were given to make this life-altering decision is sufficient/legal
2. Whether the email sent to the workforce constitutes a "legitimate" contract
3. That accepting the buyout offer requires that they forego all current & future claims against the government/agency
4. If the government reneges on any of the terms of the "contract" (as Trump is well known for doing) then the [former] worker has waived all of their rights to legal recourse
5. That the government has no guaranteed funding past the end of March 2025

There are some workers who have civil service protection, some who have union protection and guidelines surrounding terminations and something that I've always heard of but never could recall an example of, what they refer to as a "wrongful discharge in violation of public policy"

We'll see...

"William J. Clinton

42nd President of the United States: 1993 ‐ 2001

Statement on the Buyout Program for Federal Employees

April 04, 1995

More than 2 years ago, I promised to fix the Federal Government. I was firmly convinced that we could do more with less, that we could create a Government that was leaner but not meaner, and that we could make Government our partner rather than a problem.

I established the National Performance Review and put Vice President Gore in charge. He and his team have helped to transform Government, to cut bureaucracy and redtape, and to find ways to give the American people the service they deserve. At the same time, my economic plan is bringing down the deficit by more than $600 billion, and we are proposing another $81 billion in deficit reduction in the budget I recently sent to Congress.

A major element of my strategy was my commitment to streamline and cut the Federal work force. For too long in Washington, we have had too many layers of bureaucracy, too many workers whose main job was to check on the work of other workers rather than to perform useful work themselves. As the National Performance Review noted, we had good people trapped in bad systems. I promised to cut the work force, and that's what I'm doing. Through our efforts, we have already cut the work force by 102,000 positions and we are on track to cut it by a total of 272,900 positions, bringing it to its smallest size since John Kennedy was President."

Early last year, Congress approved my request to allow non-Defense agencies to offer buyouts of up to $25,000 a person.

"The Defense Department and a few other agencies already could offer buyouts under existing law."
