March 12 (UPI) -- February inflation measured by the Consumer Price Index Wednesday was 2.8% annually and was up a lower than expected 0.2% for the month, seasonally adjusted.

"The index for shelter rose 0.3% in February, accounting for nearly half of the monthly all items increase," the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in a statement. "The shelter increase was partially offset by a 4.0% decrease in the index for airline fares and a 1.0% percent decline in the index for gasoline."

Meh, not great, not bad....Steady Eddy.

Not quite the gloom-n-doom some here were predicting.

I wouldn't believe any of the numbers put out by team Trump. And they fired anyone who might check their numbers. Fake news.

Yea but inflation hasn't really even kicked in or started yet. We're seeing inflation just based on fears and speculation of what Trump's going to do next.

What about this? EU officials have made clear that the tariffs — taxes on imports — are aimed at products made in Republican-held states, such as beef and poultry from Kansas and Nebraska and wood products from Alabama and Georgia.

Inflation hasn't even started yet you fools.

Strange how inflation was not that big a problem under Uncle Joe, but a slower than expected growth in inflation now is catastrophic.

There may be some people who bought into the campaign promise of lowering inflation and eggs on day one, I was not one of them.

Growth in inflation? Biden had inflation coming down. Now you say it's going up? Even a little, are you kidding? It was going DOWN!

Most of us got inflation raises. Trump won promising to fix the economy for uneducated blue collar workers who didn't get covid raises. They are waiting.

You really have to wonder if the democrat cult ever gets tired of the up is down, down is up, I am fine so screw everyone else ideas they thrive on.
I guess we have to have a certain amount of crazies in society or we would not know the normal people

Kamala and Tim did not even say what they would do. Which means more Commie legislation paying off their privileged. And many people did not get those inflation raises or enough to keep up. On top of it the effects of increases were high and uneven even at a high rate.

Inflation had ticked up prior to the election. Lets not start with that dishonest nonsense.

The people who didn't get inflation raises, are screwed. Trump is not going to raise uneducated blue collar workers wages. In fact, the next big strike, you'll see Trump is actually against them.

His promises to them are to

A. Bring jobs home. But they won't be good paying jobs.
B. Send illegals home so they aren't competing with them.

Unfortunately, the feds will raise interest rates to slow the economy down before wages go up any more than they already have. So Trump MUST lower prices. Bigly too. Lower rent, groceries.

How many times did Trump say groceries leading up to election day? A lot.

You remember when the batshit crazy dems claimed that the two negative growth months in a row under FJB was not a recession when that had always been the case?

I bet if we have two months of negative growth under Trump you will never hear the end of Recession, Recession, Recession.

22% of America think Trump has prices moving in the right direction. This is a reminder that 22% of Americans are idiots.

As expected, I didn't think the dems here would be pleased with today's CPI report since the sky did not fall.
You have hundreds of posts claiming government numbers are being faked and are inaccurate. These numbers are shit. They are lies. Inflation was up huge last month. How can you not see it? Trump had them report shit for numbers.

Gas is down, housing is meh, eggs are down, ammo is down, and it's the salad days for LEO trade-in pistols....As long as you don't mind .40 S&W.

Life is good!

You sure about that? Trump in office and inflation is dropping.

Winning

The better-than-expected aspect of the story is quite important because there was worry after the January report that if the rate of inflation continued to rise in February, then it would be a sign that inflation is stubbornly refusing to go away and might require more stringent measures to bring it down. Now, that worrisome possibility seems a little less likely.

The hope is that February’s results will signal a new positive trend — and put an end to an old negative one. Inflation, which hit 9.1% on an annual basis in June 2022, gradually fell all the way to 2.4% last September. But then it started to rise again — 2.6% in October, 2.7% in November, 2.9% in December, and 3% in January. Now — cross your fingers — with the decline to 2.8%, the hope is that what appeared to be a second coming of inflation during the Biden years has stopped.

And?

It's good people are being more cautious with their money. Maybe they can pay down the highest ever CC debt they racked-up under FJB.
