As battlefields go it's very compact given three major battles were fought in a day there.

My ancestors fought just down the pike from the Dunker Church.

To Preppies Sitting Pretty, Nature Is Nothing More Than a Pretty Sight

Drillbabydrill Park. Trillions $$$ going wasted because of this primitive, mindless, and superstitious worship of trees.

Actually, despite the warm and fuzzy playacting performed by the Enviruses, it's all about hoarding: "We got ours, and we're not going to let you get yours."

This used to be my favorite but they have regulated the enjoyment right out of it.

Between sea turtles and fuckin' Plovers (birds not even native to the area) and the beach closures Spring surf fishing is almost impossible.

Then they started charging $50.00 to drive on the beach on top of the night driving permit.

Every year we go Walleye fishing in Voyageurs National Park on the MN/Ontario border.
Dump the boat in and spend a long weekend exploring endless bays and islands. The lower chain from Kabatogama to Crane lake is a 65 mile run.
The park has scattered camping on islands and points, with tent pads, a privy, fire ring, and metal bear boxes to store away things from the critters. Some sites have docking.
Boating and snowmobiling paradise, but only really accessible by water.

A couple large houseboat rental operations service the park also. Many tow their fishing boats behind when finding a spot

At Kettle Falls where there is a historic hotel and bar, it is the only place in the lower 48 where you are north of Canada.

Better have a boat that can take waves.
These large lakes can get intimidating fast on a windy day.
Not an area for gramps old 25hp.

But when we were young, drunk and stupid, we did.

Leisure Larceny

What is good for vacations shouldn't have priority over what is necessary to develop for economic progress.

The economic progress is Tourism.
There is literally nothing up there that is accessible, nor any population for any other economic progress. There are no roads at all. Otherwise, not really sure what you are rambling about, since this isn't a policy thread.
Plenty of resorts on those lakes outside of the parks boundary taking economic advantage of those tourists.
Frankly, the area remains for the most part unchanged since the glaciers retreated and exactly how it will remain.
How it should be.

There was this article a few years back that discussed how national parks were declining visitors because the parks to too crowded. If that does not tell you what is wrong with gov, then nothing will.

Do you see the bark stripped away from the bottom of those Aspens in the picture above? The bark is medicinal, and the elk chew it off for this purpose. I hope you get a chance to get back there some day, that place has some amazing natural beauty. The pine bark beetle is doing a lot of damage, as evidenced by all the brown trees.
