Edward Snowden is still not pardoned. Neither has Chauvin. Neither are a lot of folks who didn't commit near the crimes as this gangsta. Not sure why Trump would even bother commuting someone like him. To get the black support maybe? Who knows.

Yeah, this one is very puzzling. I have no idea what Trump is thinking.

Chauvin is under state sentence for the fraudulent murder charge, though he and the rest of the crew can be pardoned for the asinine federal civil rights convictions.

Actually, it does kind of make sense.

The cost of holding someone at a Supermax is $62,000 a year... twice the cost of a conventional prison.

By removing Hoover from the Federal system, he becomes Illinois problem now.

Basically all Trump did was commute his Federal sentence.
Which allowed the guy to be released from a Super Max prison and transferred to a regular Federal prison to serve his lengthly sentence.
He was also convicted of State crimes and given lengthly sentences.
So it will be years before his case will be reviewed by a parole board.
But his chances of being paroled for both his State and Federal crimes.
Are between ain't never gonna happen and no way Jose.

Even if Snowden was pardoned he could never come back here and stay alive.
It has nothing to do with Trump.

What would a federal pardon do for Chauvin?

He got paid. He does not care about justice, others, anything but his own benefit.

He's also in prison for federal crimes.
