My favorite one is "cakewalk" to describe something very easy, and a sure thing. If you've never participated in a cakewalk, it goes like this: Twenty to thirty people walk around in a circle to music and when the music stops, one person is eliminated, usually by being closest to a certain spot on the floor. Then it starts again. Last one left gets a cake.

So in a cakewalk, there is one survivor and up to thirty losers. In a war movie, a guy who comes back from a mission as the only survivor should say, "Captain, it was a f&%$ing cakewalk out there!"

Beyond the pale.

It's archaic.

''In your own words.''

People use the same words everybody else use.

Well..most people....
