Multiple explosions obliterated a fireworks facility Tuesday in the Esparto area of Yolo County, causing nearby evacuations and power outages.

It began with a call of a structure fire at 5:49 p.m. along County Road 23 and County Road 86A. As LiveCopter 3 was heading to the area, it could already see a massive plume of black smoke from miles away.

Flames forced the fireworks to ignite, leading to several explosions engulfing at least two homes and several vehicles on the property, also leading to nearby spot vegetation fires.

Shooting off fire works in California is tightly controlled. Fire works can only set off designated areas. I know that as 'Nam Vet they are a trigger for my PTSD. I know a lot of enjoy them. I cringe when I hear them. This the SF Bay Area is forecast to have heavy fog at night. Please be responsible with your fire works this and remember not all people enjoy them and make your pets have a safe space to go to, as they are going to be frightened by the explosions.

I'm glad the Fourth is on a Friday this year.

I have dipshit neighbors who must not have jobs as they shoot their fireworks well past midnight even when the Fourth is on a weeknight.

LOL

It's Trump's fault.

I don't mind them --I can sleep through them. My problem is the trauma they cause animals.

Gee, seems a bunch of YOU PEOPLE hate the sound of freedom.

I got a box of Czech green clusters so I might pop a few flares out of the LP-42 but that will be about it.

Some of my best childhood memories are of the whole block lighting off fireworks in NYC, despite them being illegal.

And we always cleaned up afterwards.

PUt your dog and/or cat in a dark quiet room. Provide food and water. Be sure to check in on them.

My dogs had it made over the years. They would just head down to the gun room at the first report and snooze it out there as it's sound-proof. ;)

WUT? Dog (RIP) loved it down there. :)

Visited a friend in Brooklyn in the '80s close to but not on the 4th. There was no sleeping that night. The friend's poor dog spent the night huddled in the bathroom tub.

But I don't object to fireworks. When we lived close to Central Park, we would go to the park on New Year's Eve to listen to and see the fireworks as the new year was ushered in. It's fun when you know for sure those explosions aren't aimed at you.

BTW, there are several kinds of ear muffs for dogs for this kind of situation.

And be careful. I knew someone with a deformed right hand caused by holding onto a lit firecracker a moment too long.

I always make sure my cat is in the house before dark on holidays when there may be fireworks. For us this was July 1st - Canada Day, and the Victoria Day weekend (May 2-4).

Every year there are people taking their dogs to the fireworks. The dogs go crazy, slip their collars and run away, and people are chasing through the crowd looking for their dogs.

Right now, our cat (mink) named KhwanJai is in a dark room with food and water. So far, no idiots have set fireworks but I know it will happen. For me, fireworks trigger my PTSD from 'Nam. I hate them. The loud explosions and the lights trigger me. I cower (I admit to it) in a corner until they end. For those who do not have PTSD, you will never understand this kind of fear.

Owners should train their dogs to get use to loud noises so they will not be gun-shy. My neighbor hood is empty but I lit some firecrackers I had set back. It has been along time since I last did that. Just a little celebration. Watching the celebrations on TV great moment for all of us.

15th post
The guns always go off on Fourth of July in Detroit and nearby.
