In a Republic, actually
‘The Trump administration has spurred a professional exodus at the State Department office focused on international law, which could make it harder for the government to assess if the administration is breaking the law or committing war crimes, former department officials told HuffPost.

The Office of the Legal Adviser at State, known as “L,” is the U.S.’s core instrument for considering whether government policies and actions comply with international law. But that office has shriveled under President Donald Trump, meaning such expertise may now play a smaller role in decision-making about major international issues — like the administration’s lethal attacks on boats in the Caribbean Sea, which lawmakers and experts are increasingly expressing alarm about, calling the campaign illegal and an abuse of power.’

The Trump regime doesn’t care about the law, of course.

Indeed, the risk of the Trump regime breaking the law is already 100%.

Trump will replace departing professionals with Republican hacks and MAGA loyalists who have the same contempt for the law.

An exodus of liberal deep state trash is more likely to ensure the US is up to snuff. Fewer seditionists is always a good thing.

International Law has no place in the United States… not the UN. Not the ICC. Nobody outside this country has the right to tell us what we can and cannot do. Period.

What were Republicans doing the last several decades. It means that a percentage were/are in on it. And we know it. Trump in his first term knew it. It still exists in their party now. And the cheating to win Senate and House position exists.

They were gonna break the law anyway. I think that's likely why all those folks are leaving.

Nailed it.
I remember years ago when the distinguished conservative reporter Robert Novak used to talk about "... the pink halls of State".
Senator Joe McCarthy was correct about the Red threat back in the 1950s. Yes, he overplayed his hand and he was an alcoholic and reckless but so-called "McCarthy Era" actually helped Communists in the U.S. because anybody who dared bring up the issue of Communist influence in our government was immediately branded a "McCarthyite" and shunned, laughed at, mocked, ridiculed and ultimately ignored even if their point was accurate. The State Department, perhaps more than any other, has been infected with leftist philosophy since WWII. The more of those leftists we can kick out of service, the better off America will be.

HuffPo always spins a good yarn!

I see what you're saying. You're saying that no one has broken the law but you're worried that someone might.
