NotfooledbyW Oct’24 Veortb: What Christianity as practiced today by supporters of Don Trump is morally, spiritually, and civically antithetical to the solid American principle of Civil Religion and freedom of conscience.

The idea that Christianity had something to do with the founding of America is a unfounded,

Saint Ding is afoul of the truth in paragraph i.

iii. A little history about the evolution of Christianity itself; excepts from “The Evolution of God” by Robert Wright

TEofG pg 288: It didn’t take Christians long to start annoying people as early as 64 CE, before all the books of the New Testament had been written, the Emperor Nero was having followers of Jesus smeared with pitch, put on crosses and set on fire. The thrifty persecutor, Nero (according to the Roman historian Tacitus), used the flaming bodies to serve as lights when daylight failed. The emperor’s immediate aim was to make Christian scapegoats, to blame them for a devastating fire that some people were blaming on him. But there was a less informal source of tension between the Christians and Roman rulers. Christians didn’t fit the Roman model of religion.

The Roman government let people worship whatever God they chose so long as they also paid homage to the official guards of the Empire. Christians refused to worship state gods, and they couldn’t honestly grant legitimacy to the various other gods people worshiped, either. In fact, they actively challenged that legitimacy because Christians weren’t just monotheistic; they were monotheists prone to proselytizing. .

The proselytizing outweighed the persecution, and Christianity grew until, in 312, it crossed its famous threshold: Emperor Constantine, inspired by a vision, decided to fight a crucial battle under the symbol of the cross. The ensuing victory elevated Jesus in his esteem and helped usher in an error of official tolerance for Christianity. By the end of the fourth century, Christianity was the official religion of the empire, and pagan religions were banned.

NotfooledbyW Oct’24 Veortb: It is not even remotely possible to believe America was created by any organized religion, including white protestant Christianity just before the turn of the 19th century.?

That one thing Saint Ding says above is part of one of the greatest and longest sustained lies in human history.

Sounds like you are putting the nation of America above Christ.

You worship a secular government.

The founding of this nation is based on Judeo-Christian principles. The first amendment was written to protect Christian beliefs because there were those in the founding of our nation that also wanted God to be eliminated from the hearts and minds of the people. God prevailed as the writers of the Constitution and Bill of Rights of the people were inspired of God to put this as the FIRST amendment. "Freedom OF religion." Not, Freedom FROM religion."
The basic laws of the government from the beginning were based on the Ten Commandments and other Christian laws and commandment such as Love One Another. They were based on the rights of the individuals to live in the country free from evil people who would do harm to them. Thieves, murderers, abusers and so on. Christianity was at the heart of the new nation.

Who were those who wanted God to be eliminated from the hearts and minds of the people?

Please provide names and positions of authority where they coujd apply such an atheistic mind control over the less than 20 percent of the population who bothered to attend a Christian church.

Jesus really scares the assorted sexual deviants, sociopaths, and pagan savages no end; they put a lot of effort into posting idiot propaganda over an over and over again. The commies and Wall Street desperately need to get rid of that morality stuff, too; It's inconvenient.

NotfooledbyW 241010 Veortb: My argument is that God and religion have done and does good. My argument is that the religion of Judeo-Christianity is not based on truth.

For example is “original sin” a foundational Christian belief but it is no way a universal truth

What say you three posters who are engaged in Christian apologetics on the USMB.

The truth of all Christians is that Jesus is Lord, Savior and Redeemer. That is the foundation and not things like original sin. Even more, free moral agency to choose good or evil, to believe in Christ or not has to be 100% allowed. The First Amendment was put as the first to guarantee the right to choose to follow God. The “Creator” whom we all are endowed for our right of religion. All your other babblings have no bearing.

I don't do apologetics; you don't know what the term means. Did Jesus make you feel bad about being an incel and playing with yourself a lot? The sexual neurotics are especially enraged by Jesus, which also explains why so many Marxists and Nazis hate Jesus. Ideologues are usually sexual deviants as well.

Harry Hay and David Thorstad founded the faggot rights movement; both were card carrying Communist Party members and NAMBLA fans. Commies love sexual deviancy; it's probably the main reason freaks are attracted to Marxism. Pages 4 and 5 of this PDF highlight that fact:

to put this as the FIRST amendment. "Freedom OF religion." Not, Freedom FROM religion."

there is nothing in the u s constitution in support of any particular or kind of - religion.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

c-bear as most christians is a liar - no where in the us constitution 1st amendment is there a reference "freedom of religion" madeup by religions zealots trying to impose their false beliefs as a means for their own survival.

- desert dwellers in fact have always despised the 1st amendment, u s constitution.

Your formatting is too goofy to read.

Then Jesus is not Lord is universally false
with no exceptions.
Correct in this case. The opposite is not always true in the logic and reason realm. In this case, it’s true with Christians. Which most in 1776 were. Also, if you understood what Christians teach, church attendance isn’t as important as some who believe in Christ. The LDS for instance believe the Sacrament is needed every week for specific reasons. But many Christians and their church don’t. So, 80% who weren’t attending every week were still Christians. There’s an old rule called the 80-20 rule. 20% of your organization of any kind do 80% of the work. Same today.

You are misstating the amendment again. While the religion isn’t stated, your religious beliefs and doctrine taught through your church is protected. Freedom OF religion. If you don’t have a religion, belief, church isn’t protected under this first amendment. Doesn’t mean you have to have religion. Freedom FROM religion isn’t protected in the Constitution.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” See the word “thereof.” Freedom of religion, not from religion. The free exercise of religion.

This is why people should invent nonsense and claim they follow it as a religion. Reap the benefits without having to believe in childish magic.
