Ever wonder what Muslims think about the mosque near Ground Zero?

Muslim terrorists.

Why are you afraid to call them Muslims?

They were terrorists. They represented a terrorist organization, not an Arab or Muslim nation, nor mosque.
and what religion did that terrorist organization claim to follow?

The religion of terrorism. The terrorists won.

Suicide terrorism, self-sacrifice, or martyrdom has throughout history been organized and perpetrated by groups with both political and religious motivations. The 9/11 terrorists had politcal and religious motivation. You cannot make one primary over the other.

that's a cop-out, sky
they proudly proclaimed they did it in the name of Allah and Islam
now that doesnt mean they did it in the name of all Muslims, but to THEM they did

They had political and religous motivation. They did not represent Muslims. The motives for the attacks include the presence of the U.S. in Saudi Arabia, the support of Israel by the U.S., and the sanctions against Iraq. They acted on their own.

and dont forget the "perversions in Hollywood, and Bill Clintons infidelity"
those were included

also the fact the US wasnt under Sharia law

they had quite a laundry list
they still insisted it was for Islam even if they were the only ones to believe that, it is still a fact

Another motive was the desire to provoke the U.S. into a broader war against the Islamic world, with the hope of motivating more allies to support Al Qaeda

The terrorists have succeeded famously. Many times over more lives and money lost.

We are in Iraq and Afghanistan. Before 9/11 we weren't. What Islamic countries are we allies with?

yet there are Muslims in both Iraq ans Afghanistan that are our allies

how does that figure?
let me guess, those are not REAL Muslims

We are in a broader antagonistic relationship with the Islamic world since 9/11. Bin Laden succeeded in his goal.

Well for starters we are allies with all the former Yugoslavian countries, Indonesia, Turkey, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, India (that has a lot of Muslims), Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and several African countries that are now largely Muslim. And those of course are among others.

We are in worse shape with the Islamic world than we were pre 9/11.

A recent poll of public opinion in the Middle East shows that most Arabs hold strongly negative attitudes toward the United States and U.S. policies in the Middle East. The annual opinion poll, conducted during July by the University of Maryland and Zogby International, surveyed about 4,000 respondents living in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

It found that 63 percent of respondents hold unfavorable views of the United States.

Of course, all of this is off topic. More important to this thread is the US relations to American Muslims and the opposition to the Cordoba Center.

On Sunday, August 8, the New York Times printed an article, the title of which summarizes it all: “Across Nation, Mosque Projects Meet Opposition.” The article explains that a number of mosque projects around the nation are being challenged in public hearings by local residents, not due to environmental concerns that the building of new or expanded house of worship naturally brings up for a neighborhood, but simply because of the fear that having a mosque in the neighborhood will propagate Islam in their community. We have also watched with great anguish the unfolding drama of the mosque project near Ground Zero. The project, which was first called a mosque, has now metamorphed into an interfaith community center that will include a Muslim prayer hall.

These events are not taking place in a vacuum. They reflect a real concern and anxiety that is felt by many Americans toward Islam and Muslims. Some protesters in Temecula, Calif. went so far as bringing dogs to the protest, which brought back searing memories of Iraqi prisoners being taunted by dogs and U.S. military personnel at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

Their sentiments also reflect a January 2010 Gallup World Religion Survey that shows that Americans ares more than twice as likely to express prejudice against Muslims than they are against Christians, Jews, or Buddhists. The poll also shows that nearly two thirds of Americans say they have little or no knowledge of Islam, while a majority dislikes the faith.

It was a massacre perpeterated by terrorists.

Muslim terrorists.

They were terrorists. They represented a terrorist organization, not an Arab or Muslim nation, nor mosque.

Which did not answer my question. Why are you afraid to call them Muslims? I never noticed you having a problem calling Christians who are hateful Christians, even when they do not represent a nation or a church.

That is not entirely true, we were at war in Iraq before 9/11, which is why Dubya's actions were legal under international law, despite claims to the contrary from people who want to rewrite history.

Are you talking about the Gulf War? It was over before 9/11.
