Volodymr Zelenskyy got a warm welcome in London on Saturday as leaders across Europe rallied to his defense on the heels of an extraordinary Oval Office clash in which President Trump accused the Ukrainian leader of "gambling with World War III."

In this photo taken in the Oval Office, President Trump sits on a yellow upholstered chair on the right, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sits on a similar chair on the left. Trump is wearing a blue suit with a red tie, and Zelenskyy is wearing black pants and a long-sleeved black shirt. Behind them is a fireplace.

In Zelenskyy's first official meeting since the row — which also included Vice President JD Vance and took place in full view of the media — British Prime Minister Kier Starmer embraced Zelenskyy as the two met at 10 Downing Street. Starmer told the Ukrainian leader that he has "full backing across the United Kingdom."

French President Emmanuel Macron was among the most pointed in his public statements, distinguishing between what he called the "aggressor" — Russia — and the "victim" — Ukraine. He said that countries including France that had helped Ukraine and sanctioned Russia three years ago after its February 2022 invasion were "right" to continue to do so.

The European Union's most powerful leader, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, told Zelenskyy in a message posted on social media on Friday that his "dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people," adding an encouragement that he "be strong, be brave, be fearless," and concluding "you are never alone."

Stirring words. But what do they mean.

Zelenskyy is taking a "my way or the highway" approach to the United States' help in the war. Not hard to guess which choice Trump will make under an ultimatum like that. So, for this thread, let's assume that Trump ends up withdrawing all help to Ukraine.

Is Zelenskyy counting on more help from Europe than he will ultimately get? And will Europe accept his all-or-nothing approach? Or well they also insist on diplomacy during a cease-fire, which Zelenskyy rejected from the U.S? Will he accept it if Europe proposes it?

If the absolute minimum that Zelenskyy is willing to take is a humiliating total defeat for Russia, and full NATO membership for his country, will European leaders go along with that? It's what we the United States gave western Europe after they were attacked by Nazi Germany, not only a humiliating defeat, but near destruction of the aggressor. But . . . it took a total war to get to that.

Is Europe ready for a total war against Russia as demanded by Zelenskyy?

Wouldn't it be funny now if that forced the USA to side with Russia, we stomp Ukraine, cost the EU a fortune, take control of the EU as well, then split up all of Europe between Russia and the USA?! :auiqs.jpg:

They don't have to tell us. Zelensky has not asked fr a total war, and at this point, Putin would get destroyed unless he uses nukes. Zelenskyy didn't reject diplomacy. Why are you talking about Zelensky when Putin is the problem?

Europe just wants the US to clean up their mess like they did after the last two world wars.

Europe can only 'hint.'
Nope, they are too cheap to fund him and too cowardly to engage in fighting.

They are all talk and will just blame Trump for anything bad that happens, while refusing to take any sort of accountability for their own actions.

As the US becomes isolationist the Europeans and Chinese will step into the void.

The Chinese are already aligned with Putin. Together they can smash the Ukraine.

Zelenskyy's exact words: "You don't compromise with a killer."

LOL the European leaders are great at "hints" and pretty words. Their track record of backing words with action and actually doing the heavy lifting is pretty dismal. Good luck little fella!

Awww shit Don't let that fool you! They mean well they really do! It's worth it so they can call America cheap and dirty! That's all right we can live up to that as long as they're paying for it.

Better the European taxpayer fund the endless, bloody war, versus Americans. Go Europe!!!

It depends on Germany.
Only Germany has the money to keep the € and EU together paralel to a military build-up (not likely using that money for building their own Army, but they can pump money into France, Poland, UK etc).

As for European troops in Ukraine: Maybe in Western Ukraine, but nowhere near where the fighting takes place, near Russian troops or Ukrainian-Russian paramilitary forces.
They lack the balls for that, and Russians won't accept them.
