BRUSSELS — Top European Union officials have met with the bloc’s ambassadors to talk through what it would mean if Donald Trump wins the U.S. election, 12 EU diplomats told POLITICO.


"They're worried about trade but mostly [about] Ukraine,” one of the diplomats said, adding that Brussels foresees "abrupt changes on U.S. policy even before the inauguration." The diplomat, like others quoted in this piece, was granted anonymity to speak candidly.


The conversations revolved around two areas of uncertainty should the Republican candidate reclaim the White House: Whether Washington would continue to support Ukraine and the prospect of higher U.S. tariffs for all incoming goods.

Folks on the right tend to be optimistic and reactive to problems and opportunities. Thus, these folks see a sunrise and the dawning of morning in America. . . they all seem to be wanting to believe Trump has this in the bag.

. . . while the notoriously named "bed-wetters," always see doom and gloom, and want to be proactive to any and all the threats they see.

They also, are alarmed that Trump has any chance to win this.

Putin himself has said, on multiple occasions, he has no desire to take over all of Ukraine.




Various Oblasts in Ukraine, were given over to it to administer and run at the end of the Soviet Era. Some of which had traditionally been part of Russia.

Russians didn't mine, as long as Ukraine was diplomatically, economically and culturally friendly to Russia, and treated ethnic Russians and Ukrainians the same.



That ended in 2014 with the CIA's meddling.
