ESPN Fired Jaws and I feel gooooooooooooooood!!!!!!!

ESPN is no longer the sporting station it was. It is time to fold it and make it a past memory.

Jaws knows what he is talking about and can break down film... if true he'll be hired by the NFL Network or Fox in no time.

ESPN is second rate. Big shame.

When they announced their layoffs recently, the story was that the "one trick" ponies were the ones on the bubble. They have too many "experts" and too few broadcasters in my view. Where they really need to start from scratch is on the Radio side. I think they do a very poor job of fielding entertaining radio programming. Its possible to do it; Jim Rome proved that. So did Bill Littlefield on NPR. Neither have a patent.

If you want to look at a person who signified the sea change, I think it was Stuart Scott (RIP). As brash and as "out there" as he was, you either were happy to see him on Sports Center or you changed the channel. Whenever you have a coin flip's chance of embracing or rejecting a host vs. begrudgingly accepting him/her (Linda Cohn, Steve Levy, Gary Miller, Trey Wingo) your audience dwindles. I would imagine that many felt the same about Keith Olberman and Dan Patrick as well.

he is a philly homer and I'm glad he is fired

Really? Who's first rate?

At the end of the year, they will still be the dominant player in the environment.

All they did was get rid of some on-air people who were not adding all that much to the broadcasts. Meanwhile, whenever the Mannings, Bradys, etc... feel like they wish to become broadcasters... it's an easier ascension for them.

ESPN just made it clear they want more versatile reporters that can cover more than one sport and there fore be used across more platforms. So you will see less guys like Jaws who can just cover football.
