Lies are always easier to sell then truth. Especially when truth means you have to admit that you are wrong.

I don't think that's really what got him elected though. For one thing I believe that a large part of even the MAGA folk you find on here are perfectly aware that Trump lies. I think most of the assholes on here are simply gaslighting.

I think the main reason is that a big portion of the American electorate (not the people on here) is so disinterested in politics, and Trump is a lot of things, but he grabs attention like no one else.

He's turned the presidency in a version of the Real Housewives where success isn't measured in you know... actual success. But in how interesting you can make the show. He even uses the same tactics. Constant fights to begin with.

I wish it was a reasoned choice. At least it would make the loss of Democracy, the result of the people being duped or God forbid a conscious choice. But what it is, is way, wayyyy worse. Democracy in America will be lost because a big chunk of the electorate thinks that Democracy is less important than being amused by some reality show.
