Hillary Clinton testifies that she has 'no idea' about Epstein's crimes: What we know about the deposition, plus how we got here
The former secretary of state, who has not been accused of any wrongdoing, spoke with congressional investigators after months of wrangling over her testimony.
There was a time when retired politicians, now far from the "hustle and bustle" of everyday politics, shed the partisan "clothing" that they had worn for their political careers and began speaking candidly and honestly about current affairs, thus giving a wise perspective on the events of the day.
There was a bit of this in the Bush 41 and 43 world - mainly used to bad-mouth Trump - but Democrats never seem to graduate from political hack to Elder Statesman.
Why couldn't this dried up old shrew just say something gracious. "There is a lot of interest in Epstein these days, and it is worthwhile to explore the ways he gained his wealth and influence, and what he did with it. I'm happy to disclose what I personally know, which is not much."
How difficult would that be? Neither she nor her husband will ever run for office again. What would be the benefit of continuing to be a detestable political clown?
