The crash happened the day after Christmas 2023, killing almost everyone inside a minivan after it was hit head-on by an intoxicated driver.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A Texas teenager was sentenced to serve 65 years in prison Tuesday for the deadly December 2023 crash that killed six members of the same family.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the deadly wreck happened when 18-year-old Luke Resecker was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and swerved into oncoming traffic, where he collided head-on with a Honda Odyssey.

The crash happened a day after Christmas on U.S. 67 just south of Forth Worth, when investigators said Resceker, who was high under the influence of marijuana, tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and veered into the northbound lanes. The driver of the Odyssey tried to avoid the Silverado, but Resecker collided into the front part of the Odyssey.

Pot causes mental illness. At the least, it causes impairment.
Driver could have been experiencing a pot-induced psychotic episode or a derealization episode in addition to being impaired.

It's stricter than it used to be but still too soft. DWI should be a felony (as should DWT). These psychopaths belong in prison but we don't have enough jail room. At least take away their DL for 10 years.

According to what is said in the included news clip, the drunk driver was seventeen years old. Yeah, that makes him a minor, but I won't be surprised if he was tried as an adult since he was just a year away from eighteen years of age.
