These are methods of buying stock often at below market prices because Dividend ReInvestment Plans and Direct Purchase Plans bypass underwriting fees. I am no longer in this market but there used to be online swap meets and you can also set up your own self directed retirement account. Just throwing this out there for the members with a really tight budget and no I will not offer any pay for play services.

You don't want to be overly invested in stocks if you might be forced to sell at an inopportune time, since this impairs you ability to recover your investment. Better to maintain enough in liquid accounts to meet unanticipated needs.

true but reducing entry costs is a real big deal.
