Dr. Demento (Barrett Hansen) earlier this year announced that October 11, 2025 will be the final Dr. Demento Show.

Hansen, who holds a master's degree in ethnomusicology, created the Demento persona in 1970 while working at KPPC-FM in Pasadena. Playing "Transfusion" by Nervous Norvus reportedly prompted somebody to comment on him having to be "demented" to play such a song.

Syndication would start in 1974 and the show would be syndicated on the Westwood One Radio Network from 1978-1992.

The Demented One has continued his show on-line after national radio syndication ended in 2010.

Soooo wind up your radio! Post your favorite novelty, comedy, unusual songs, memories of Dr. Demento, his guests and interviews.

And don't forget to STAY DEMENTED!
