Myself . . . I am afraid of no man, nor of any future—no matter how stark. It's the waiting that's hell. It's the waiting for the battle to be joined and the killing to begin. I want peace, stability; I want normal American life full of a million small fires but no fire that is too big to put out. Since certain ideologies, political parties, elected officials and domestic terrorists will not allow that peace and stability to happen there's nothing left but the crushing weight of the waiting . . . for the inevitable.
