Leave it out for about 3 hours or put it in some hot water in the sink and it'll be thawed out in no time.

Usually I thaw it out a day or two before Thanksgiving and then put in the fridge. Then start cooking it around 7am, and it's done by noon.

Mine never completely thaws before I brine it the night before.
You can try hotter water but that might have the effect of cooking some of the outer portions of it.
Cool or maybe lukewarm water for an hour or two.

It's probably thawed but if not submerge it in warm water in the sink for a bit and that should do the trick. Do get it in the oven right away then though as warm raw turkey can develop uglies pretty quickly.

To me, if you have any kids, they should only be helping you with this meal considering what is already on your wife's plate, but if don't have kids and your wife was the one who always cooked the meal, she should be telling you what she always did when she cooked it, especially if she still wants the meal to be made this time.

God bless you and her and the rest of your family always!!!

Holly

P.S. I pray that your wife makes the right kind of recovery, but considering all that could be against her, you of course know more than I do, it shouldn't just be you who is there for her on this day.

DO NOT USE WARM WATER TO THAW POULTRY!!!!

Correct! Use cold water.

Put a clean plate in the kitchen sink. Put the turkey on the plate...fill sink with COLD water.

It'll be thawed in an hour or 2.

If you don't want to use the sink...use a chest-cooler.

Thank you! Kids all grown with their own families..
But youngest daughter is home helping me!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Or you could run to the store & buy a rotisserie chicken :)
Heck yeah. But wife is kinda a traditionalist...
So I got 'er thawed using cold water in the sink - changing it every 30 minutes. Took about 3 hours but all good and in oven.

We had that issue last night with the cavity still frozen.
Did the cool water for a while. Seems fine today and now in the roaster.

Yeah it takes a lot of thawing to melt the "iceberg" inside a whole turkey.

To save fridge space I used to thaw a whole turkey in a large Playmate cooler. It worked well.

The last few years I went to turkey breasts and they don't take-up that much room to thaw in the fridge.

We are feeding about 17 people, so we had to go big.

The trick is making sure the internal temp is roughly room temp before you stuff it in the oven.
Hot stuffing helps that make that happen.
