US manufacturing have a strong market for Light Trucks (obver 50% of market). So they have a 25% tariff on imported light trucks from Europe.
EU then has a 10% tariff on all vehicles. While US manufacturing don't care because they don't sell US manufactured vehicles in EU due to emissions and safety standards.

US puts 4% on EU manufactured cars, which EU seems fair enough.

Both industries are pretty happy with this relationship because they is almost no tariff on Auto Parts... This is where it would make a big difference. Generally speaking US makes US cars and EU makes EU cars to meet standards in each region.


So for Auto industry, trade war is a bit stupid.
For pharma it is even more stuipd because that actual production and packaging of drugs is less than 10% of the price of the drug... I can get you proof if you want. The main money in drug production is R & D and Clinical trails...
