So you don't mind spending other people's money to support TV/radio stations you happen to like?I really don't care if they cut funding or not though.
PBS, parent company of NPR gets $525 million a year from the US Government. In the past three or so years, NPR which has always had a leftwing bent has become unlistenable. Just for the fun of it, I'll tune in when I get into the car, I hear one of four themes:
1. War on Gaza (always anti-Israel)
2. War in Ukraine
3 Some story involving climate change
4 Some story involving gays or trans.
And now add to that apoplectic stories about the evil of Trump. The other day they had a "journalist" on who is just so depressed and on edge about Trump, talking about how everything was so calm for the past four years. No effort at all to be even-handed. NPR has lost the small amount of credibility it ever had, and it's just gone full-bore leftwing all the time. No way in the hell the government should be funding it.

I’ve Been at NPR for 25 Years. Here’s How We Lost America’s Trust.
Uri Berliner, a veteran at the public radio institution, says the network lost its way when it started telling listeners how to think.www.thefp.com
Most NPR listeners are leftwingers who fancy themselves as more educated and cultured than others. They often work for universities or other government subsidized enterprises. They attend wine-tastings and watch TCM movies. They eat out at vegan restaurants and hang out at shops in the historic section of town. They attend poetry readings and gush over unintelligible nonsense. They visit art museums and fuss over abstract sculptures and paintings a toddler might produce. They think they are better than red-state rubes. In reality, they are unintelligent gullible wannabes who buy Marxist lies.
Let's remove government funding and see if NPR is truly "listener-supported".
I really don't care if they do or they don't.So you don't mind spending other people's money to support TV/radio stations you happen to like?
You're right, the over half a billion a year is going to production costs not station operations, which IMHO is even worse. As I said before IMHO the Federal Government has no business being in the media business in any way, shape or form.
Those stations carrying that content are getting that content at a taxpayer subsidized price, so in effect the taxpayers are subsidizing the stations that choose to carry that content. If they want to carry that content fine but they need to pay the full price for it including unsubsidized production costs.
Trump is doing the right thing. They are eliminating the money that is somewhat hidden that pushes the Democratic Progressive Socialist Party. There are many tentacles that need to be removed.IMHO removing all Federal Funding from NPR is a no-brainer; the Federal Government has no business funding a propaganda arm, should have never been given a single taxpayer penny.
I don't CARE if those stations "originate their own programming". What I object to is using MY tax money to produce the crap that they are now producing and kicking back some of it to their favorite Democrats. It wasn't Republicans who "held up disaster aid to those North Carolina hurricane victims." It was Biden's FEMA morons who did so.It may end up being one of those 1,000 snakes crawl out once you cut off the dragon's head situations. Who knows. The money comes with the mandate. Without it, you could have all those stations originating their own original programming which may or may not appease conservatives. If WUNC had instead used its airtime criticizing conservatives over their holding up disaster aid to those North Carolina hurricane victims, who knows what difference it may have made politically. Tranny Palestinians trapped behind the lines in Ukraine may have a smaller political footprint than people think when you consider the alternative. Either way, time will sort it all out.
A Random WOKE on Wall StreetThey probably are more left wing because that is where the money is, but I know conservatives who listen to the classical music stations, just not the talk radio ones. I really don't care if they cut funding or not though. I can't imagine that it is that expensive to run a station. They may just have to cut back one of their multiple stations in some listening areas.
It was the GOP house majority leader who saw no need to take up disaster relief and I doubt your objection to that funding is any stronger than my objection to Trump's many golf outings (and yes I criticized Biden too for always being on vacation). At the end of the day, it does not matter what they spend it on. Our taxes are based on our incomes, They are taking it, spending it, and borrowing more money and spending it too. When I said I don't care one way or the other, I meant I don't care one way or the other. If they don't waste it on that they will waste it on something else stupid....like paying people to quit.I don't CARE if those stations "originate their own programming". So you are in FAVOR of the BS that USAid has been funding in the tens of millions for Woke BS? I always knew you left-leaners were stupid people, but I never thought you were also thieves until we started learning what you were allowing to happen with such crap as that. Ten cents to a C-note a substantial portion of that money is being kicked back to these people's favorite Democrat supporters in Congress, How else did AOC go from a bartender to having a net worth in the multiple millions on a salary of $174,000. BTW, Trump playing golf is not "on vacation." He's less than 10 seconds away from his phones and access to his aides and is often conducting government business on the golf course, just like ALL businessmen conduct business there. Biden worked from 11AM to 4 PM and then went to bed most days...even when he WASN'T on vacation. Trump only played golf on weekends...and certainly not every weekend. Biden usually just goes home every weekend or to the beach. I doubt he had the faintest notion about who or what was actually in charge of the government for any of his 4 years in office. He was a wind-up "President" who could some days read from a teleprompter. I have no objection to Congress spending money on national defense or even Social Security. I DO object to financing DEI programs for foreign countries, trans-operas, abortions, "green" crap, and welfare for the rest of the world while allowing homelessness--especially of our veterans--all over city streets when all that foreign "aid" could be providing housing for them instead. We owe our allegiance to AMERICANS...not every shit-hole. country on the planet. It was the GOP house majority leader who saw no need to take up disaster relief and I doubt your objection to that funding is any stronger than my objection to Trump's many golf outings (and yes I criticized Biden too for always being on vacation). Good. We've known for decades that Medicare and especially Medicaid are rife with corruption...especially via the pharmaceutical industry. I just paid $560 for a 90-day supply of a heart medication and that's after my insurance paid the BULK of the cost. That was my co-pay! A few months ago, I was prescribed what's called a "life-vest"...an external defibrillator...that's extremely uncomfortable, needing laundering every other day and going off for no apparent reason, even while I'm asleep. They're charging me $550 PER MONTH and that too is after my insurance pays over $3,500 per month! Just the battery pack for the thing I have to haul around and sleep with weighs 5 pounds!Doge is now going after your healthcare Boomers.

Yawns. When Trump flies to Florida it costs a mint. Nonetheless, like I said, doesn't cost either us a penny and won't save either of us a penny if he doesn't. They take what they take and spend more. As for USAID money, same as NPR money--really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. If you want to pretend you have a victory, then pretend away. Your taxes will be exactly the same.So you are in FAVOR of the BS that USAid has been funding in the tens of millions for Woke BS? Actually they won't believe you, they are programmed to believe their countries "truth".Leave the shell intact so that it can be started-up again but hollow it out and turn off the lights. Nobody will miss it.
I'd much rather see that money spent to broadcast the truth to the Russians and Chinese and Iranians and North Koreans.
Perhaps. But I think we need to keep trying to give them an alternative viewpoint.Actually they won't believe you,
So what? He's the President of the ENTIRE country...not just D.C.Yawns. When Trump flies to Florida it costs a mint.
