Eddie Feigner was a phenomenon pitching a softball, and I was about 13 when my dad took me to see them t the local hs diamond in NC. They played some locals and it was so lopsided he was pitching from 2nd base and they still couldn't hit him, even though he was at the end of his career. That man had some game. /----/ Yes, I was a kid growing up in Greenville, SC. My grandparents lived across the street from McPherson Park, where the King would play. Here's a newsreel. For you millennials, that was a news broadcast shown at the movies before the featured movie.

I saw him in the Bronx in the 70’s

I think the only had 3 other players on the team

My Uncle (passed) saved up and bought a projector and Feigner films to learn from him.....And did.

I could never hit him and I was no slouch as a hitter.....He finally threw his arm out but it saved him in the end, it was too buggered-up for him to be drafted.

I saw him in Laramie Wyoming in 1972. That boy was fast. But he wasn't as good as a local Pa. kid at that time, named Ty Stofflet. That guy was really badass. Head to head, Ty beat him both times.

I demand that his stats be included in the MLB record books. Just like the negroes!

the negro league has their own stats.....MLB will include them in when you see lifetime records just for comparison, just like they do the dead ball era and the guys from the 1800's,who also should not be in the modern record book.... but in the MLB record books they are not included because they were not a part of MLB .....

I remember hearing people talk about Cool Papa Bell, fastest man to ever play baseball. How fast was he? They say he was so fast that when he went to bed, he'd turn the light out and be under the sheets before the room got dark. Some catchers said they would throw to second when Cool Papa bunted and they'd throw to third when he was stealing second. Guys like Cool Papa and Josh Gibson would have been great in any league. Too bad they never got a chance to play in the majors.

I believe that also. I also believe there is a drop off in talent in the old Negro leagues quicker than the then Major Leagues that made stats look better.

in the 1890's they were being talked about letting them play, Cap Anson and a few others said they would leave the league and start their own if they allow it.....Anson was arguably the best player in that era and carried a lot of weight i guess....

they only played 50-60 games a season thats why their numbers are so high....

Lumping the negros in with dead ball is hardly the same thing.

I know of them only from TV when they were around. Probably from ABC's Wide World of Sports. Speaking of which, I miss the ice-skating barrel-jumpers.

I never saw the King & His Court, but they did come to town (Pittsburgh) occasionally to play against the best local teams and embarrass them.

I always wondered whether the locals were fast-pitch or slo-pitch. Regardless, they could not hit Feigner.
