Does anyone else hate those Medicare health insurance health assessments they do once a year?

I do. In fact, I just called and cancelled the one I was supposed to get tomorrow. I was supposed to get one of those yearly Health and Well‑being Assessment with Signify Health on behalf of Humana tomorrow. That's where they send a nurse to your home to poke and prod you, ask a bunch of stupid questions, then suggest some medication that you don't even need.

I find them intrusive and don't really like having some stranger come to my home and put me under a microscope. I'm not sick, I don't need medical attention, and besides, I already get a yearly checkup at the VA and the results of the blood tests had perfect scores.

Then refuse. I've refused for ten years. I had the assessment done once. The nurse asked me the same questions asked in every doctors office. I did not agree to the blood pressure check. There is nothing that can do to you for refusing.

My one-year Medicare Wellness is the same annual physical I’ve gotten all my adult life. Blood tests, urine test, EKG, some female stuff, etc. No nurse comes to my house.

The only difference is that they asked some questions to determine if I was starting to lose my mind, such as:

1) Do you get lost driving to familiar places?
2) Are you frequently misplacing items?
3) Are you voluntarily participating in USMB and attempting to debate with leftists?

i have medicare i have never had one of those.....maybe its humanas deal....

I think the home visits must be Humana, I have UHC and they do suggest that option, or that I go to a DR or in some way 'take advantage of the insurance rewards and use the system. Since I don't trust the whole medical/pharma BS I don't and really have no need. Far as I'm concerned, they must make money every time people use it and if you don't participate, they don't, Can't confirm that though.

I finally went to the DR last September for a check up, after not going for 8 or 9 years. My blood work came back fine for what I was looking for (blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides and white blood cell count, indicating possible cancer). The only concerning number was my red blood cell count was just a little high but nothing serious. Dr said I could have a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years......so unless anything else happens before then, it'll probably be 10 years before I go back.

So I would suggest a check up with the Dr once in a while, but on your terms, not theirs. Maybe once every 5 or 10 years, but that also depends on your health and situation

It is a Medicare Advantage deal. The health assessment is merely the company attempting to classify you with some type of at risk condition that gets them additional payments from the federal government.
oh one of them....that explains it....

That's another reason to cancel it.

They are paying me $50 to have a video conference with them. It certainly not going to kill me to accept the money and spend a half hour with them. My year will go on just fine

It's Medicare Advantage plans only and they are not mandatory. The more the insurance company does the more money they receive to cover you.

Never mind I see winston answered.

Tell them they shouldn't code any conditions for you or extract any additional dollars from the taxpayers on your behalf.

Why? You don’t have to do any physical. But the $75 in your OTC account is nice and helpful.
